How to spy on your competitor?

So there is this site that is getting a lot of sales. I am trying to figure out where his sales are coming from?
I looked at his backlinks, very few. Less than 10.
Is there away to see what is going on? The site brings thousands of visitors/sales per month, and yet I can't tell from where?
Any advice?

facebook, youtube and press releases are best.

Plus also use the google alert functions, which lets you see posts with certain keywords attached instantly. Its DOPE!.

What do you mean? facebook, youtube and press releases are best.
They have nothing but closed group for his buyers. Very lame FB page and even worst YouTube.
But yet, he is getting a lot of sales. These are coming from somewhere.

Is there a way to actual follow what they do on the social media?

Yeah, that might be hard to know without asking them directly.... which they might not admit too unless you befriend them.

The only reason then he might be running Google PPC or other Paid advertisement because as you said he already have 10 backlink's.

How do you know he's getting thousands of visitors and a lot of sales?

Like someone said above, I think email marketing is my best guess too. Try and get on their email list or on the lists of people in the same niche to see if there's anyone promoting him

I won't come up with some bold statements. He does have a lot of sales.
His PPC campaign is only for his name. This is not some famous brand. No one in this forum ever even heard of him. But he has been running a solid online sales for the last three years.

        How do you know?

Are you sure he's not just "blowin' smoke up your ass"?

So you have direct access to
            1. his merchant account and/or
            2. is payment processor accounts?

If not, how do you have any confidence in his sales figures?

If so, he should also be willing to entrust you with access to his site's cPanel so that you can observe (directly) his traffic sources.

No one here has that level of access to his transactions nor his traffic sources and can only guess at the source of those transactions.

Not sure why you keep questioning me about my knowledge. Lets just say, I KNOW.
I have better things to do during the day than say stupid stuff just to get posts up.
The guy got some sales!!!! Period.
I just don't know where he gets them. The only link that is missing is Social Media. And I can't find anything over there either. Is there a way to follow what he does on the social media? If there is, I am very interested. But if you keep question me how do I know? Look man, you may have all the time in the world, but you absolutely don't contribute anything, aside from placing links to your product. If that's the point, then good for you. But don't question what I know, or don't. Please take my word. I do.
Now, do you have some creative way to spy on a competitor? You do? Lets hear it.

Let's not - unless you can support that statement with some meaningful evidence.

                No. I don't.
Obviously, you don't either, and judging from the other replies you've received... neither does anyone else.

                What does that tell you?

Outside of getting direct access to your competitor's web traffic stats, there is no DEFINITIVE way to determine how much traffic he is getting from any given source. You have been around long enough that I would have thought you already knew that.

Is it any wonder that I would question your professed knowledge of your competitor's sales? Getting real knowledge of that information is even more difficult.

                  Well, he is getting sales.
And maybe you right, there is no way to find out from where.

You make me confuse. I'm sure your competitor is doing paid advertising in social media. He is doing aggresive SMM for promoting webpages and getting tons of sell. Try to check his webpages social share. May be they aren't promoting the webpages from official page but from any fake profile.

I'd recommend Semrush, very helpful for finding information on your competitors.

Other than that, why not approach him and build a relationship with him? Not saying you should partner up, but just start a friendly conversation.

Do you have anything or any knowledge he could use? Most professional business owners online will be receptive and open-minded to their competition.

Casey Neistat and H3H3 (Ethan & Hila) are both popular Youtube personalities who does vlogging, and they collaborated on at least 1 video.

Just saying, building relationships online is key to success.

Just my 2 cents I guess

    Regards,

    Karl
