Evaluation: money sources

Hey guy, i want kind of evaluate with what in the big internet marketing business people can make a living of their work. So far I have sold ebooks on amazon which was going ok, but as they closed my account I have to look for other opportunities. I don´t like just do something, what may take much time, just to realize that it is not a good path to go. That´s why I am asking you here now. I can say you what I think to know now:

- Very little people (in comparison to how many try) make any substantional money out of bloging
- For "normal" authors (who may not be very good in digital marketing) (at least in germany) it is very hard to make a living
- Affiliate marketing seems to work kind of ... but here I have to explore more how exactly the successful people promote their affiliate links/ offers
- Building your own digital product, for example ebooks/ video courses seems to work also ... perhaps even better then doing affiliate marketing

As I have sold my own ebooks already I like the idea to have my own product, that can be sold over and over again (more or less passive income), at the same time I am not dependent on affiliate marketing programs (if they stop or pay out money at all, etc.), so I am then kind of independent also.
What do you think, what is from your experience a good way to make money online (if possible passive)? thanks

Passive income. I love those two words even more than these two: Elvira's buttocks. On a serious note (although I was entirely serious about the buttocks), why do I love passive income? Simple: it's the best way I know to grow an online operation. Question is, which passive income model is ideal for you? Not for Joe. Not for Josephine. But for Molzer. It depends on your knowledge, technical expertise, and passions. I could give you a thousand different models, but unless they're right for you, the models will be about as useful to you as a tea cup with a hole in the bottom.

However. Based on what you tell me in your original post, one potential model comes to mind.

English, let's be honest, is not your strong point. You write very well, actually, especially since German is your first language, but we need to recognize English communication as being one of your hurdles. The task becomes to concentrate on a business model where your ability to communicate in English will not hinder the efficiency of the business. That being said, you have useful experience in education business models, coupled with an interest in video. If you're comfortable in front of a camera, Molzer, or if you have the funds to pay for video performers, then I'd suggest combining the two things: education and videos.

    A simple but robust model:

    1. Niche Squeeze.
    2. Video course (incentive).
    3. Traffic from videos.
    4. Traffic from socials.
    5. Paid traffic (FB, for instance).

What I'd do is identify an evergreen niche, where the consumer needs and not merely wants solutions, in which you have passion and knowledge. Put together a video course behind your squeeze (on a decent domain) and learn how to develop traffic and convert subscribers and monetizations. Speaking of which: monetizations. Again, I'd suggest the video route (a good match for that audience). What you do is offer them a good solution (the incentive) and then a more effective solution (the monetization).

    Just a few thoughts!

    - Tom

So happy you add the passion note Tom. Sometimes we get all caught up in the practical side of things when really, we move into successful action based on our true motivators. If you have passion for your niche it is easier to follow successful advice and to prosper.

Agreed, if you have some insightful information to share that's not being sold somewhere else, then by all means share with the community.

Anyway, I think Tom nailed it with his post above, thank you!

      Regards,

      Karl

I can tell you what I have been doing for the past 16 years and has been working.

I have been doing CPA / affiliate marketing, I just do it a bit differently than most.

I heavily promote PPL (pay per lead...lead generation) offers. This is because there is no credit card / purchase required to complete an offer. All a user has to do is fill out a form, so conversion rates are typically much higher compared to offers that require a sale to be made.

I favor offers that have a make, get or save money benefit to them, as they have overall worked the best. They also tend to have the greatest mass appeal (will be of interest to a large general audience), so the potential exists to produce high volume and they are fairly easy to cross promote on the back-end.

Some of the verticals I have done extremely well with are: education, insurance, loans, debt, credit, mortgage, assistance, discount offers, homeowner offers, etc...

The bulk of the offers that I promote pay $20-$40 per lead, but I also promote offers that pay more and less. You don't want to get caught up solely on what an offer pays because how well it converts is just as important. For example, if you have an offer that pays $9, but if it converts at 2X or more of a $20 offer, then it will perform about the same and possibly better. At the same time, if you have an offer that pays $90 and it converts poorly, it may not even be worth promoting.

Bottom line: it's far easier to get someone fill out a short form than to get them to pull out their credit card and make a purchase. So why struggle with trying to sell this or that, when you can provide free information that users want/need and get paid well doing it.

I drive traffic by acquiring 3rd party email data, which is data that the users are interested in a specific vertical(niche)and have given permission to receive messages from third parties. You get the opt-in record and it's 100% can-spam compliant.

So by acquiring data, I'm building assets that I then own and can market to over and over at very low cost. However, 3rd party data will rarely be as responsive as a high-quality opt-in list you build yourself. But it really doesn't matter because it is much cheaper and highly scalable compared to convention list building.

So the key to making it work is to always be collecting your opens / clickers, segmenting, and removing unresponsive users. That way over time you are building smaller, but more responsive lists that you should eventually be able to send less and make more with each mailing. Essentially you are converting the data from quantity to quality (cost effectively).

Basically, I monetize the data using PPL offers because they offer the path of least resistance to generating conversions and converting the data into cash producing assets.

Obviously, there is far more to it, but done right it can be extremely profitable. Everyone that I know that is in the business and knows what they are doing, for the most part, does 6-7 figures. While that's a huge range, much comes to one's ability to scale and effectively build / manage the infrastructure needed to scale.

    Something to think about.

    • This is my first post. Something about your post really stands out to me. I am looking to get started in affiliate marketing/internet marketing, and I am just trying to get started.

I built a blog about a year ago, just as a proof of concept, or at least to get comfortable posting articles and doing the internet thing. There was really no theme or reason to the blog, mostly self help and life hack things. Anyways, I love writing and it has been my dream to be a successful internet marketer. This is something I've wanted to do for years, and I'm ashamed to say that I never dove head first because I was afraid to fail.

My goals are realistic. I am going to make 1500/Month minimum by 2018, and 6 figures by 2020. I know it can be done. My question is this, if you were starting out in the biz all over again would you recommend PPL as a good beginning place? What are the minimum basic skills I must master to make my first dollar online? Are there any resources/specific articles you recommend I read?

Thank you for taking the time to respond to me. I look forward to internet high fiving everyone here when I've made my first sale

Those streams - eBooks and products - work nicely.

Folks make nice coin through blogging too. Because you can sell anything through a blog. Where with other channels your hands are tied. Think about starting a Wordpress blog. You can sell your eBooks, new courses, and various services through your blog. Or anything else.

    OP,

Why can't you try Amazon again? Why did your account get closed?

Anyway, you can still make a solid income off ebooks by giving away free ebooks to build a mailing list

    The key is traffic

Thanks to Facebook groups, getting qualified traffic isn't as hard as many people think

Get an FB group discovery and publishing tool like Mass Planner and build lots of 'article landing pages'

Link these to dump the traffic to your squeeze page and you're good to go

    dont spread yourself too thin.

The way I have done well, FOCUS on 1 thing, get that to $5000 per month. Then go to your next project, and focus on both, and get them going to $5000 per month each.

The clue here is FOCUS< my favourite EFF word. :-)
