The best way is to use a great free little app called Keypass. It is very nice and secure plus you can have a portable version on your stick when travelling.

Somewhere around here (the Internet) I wrote a free report on getting the best deal on RF.

One of the products that I looked at was KeePass.

      I turned it down, flat.

WHY? Because KP taps into the keyboard driver.

Meaning -- using KP, your passwords ARE NOT SAFE if a keylogger gets installed on your computer. (Hopefully, will never happen, however, better safe than sorry.)

RF DOES NOT tap into the keyboard processing, and so, therefore, passwords entered via RF will not be discovered via keyloggers.

This is a VERY important security issue. One that RF used to not mention as much -- I think they now point it out much more.

I have a friend who is a merchandiser, and sometimes I go with her on her merchandizing runs. Last night we went to a well-known computer store chain (not Frys). They basically said that the security products are flying off the shelves lately. (Relevant to the products she does merchandizing for.)

Roboform and I back up the passcards to an external hard drive. You can use it for free for up to 10 passcards. Beyond that you will need to buy Roboform Pro which has unlimited passcards for $29.95.

      Good luck!

I most say that Roboform is one of the greatest tools I have had. It not only remebers your passwords but automatically fills in your information at the click of a botton, which in turn saves you a lot of time when filling out online information.

I have heard of other tools like Roboform, But for me Roboform is the golden ticket and I would recommend it to anyone else looking to save time and keep passwords.

What's frustrating is when different sites have rules about password length, or special characters. So you have to use lots of different passwords and usernames.

I'm a programmer so I wrote my own encrypted password program for fun.

    RoboForm Pro

You don't realize how much time you are really wasting -- keeping all of your passwords in your head, on spreadsheets, on a legal pad, etc. -- until you're able to use RoboForm Pro.

It saves an INSANE amount of time and is very easy to use.

Get it, and after you have been using it for just a short time, you will be kicking yourself, wondering why you didn't get it long ago. You'll think of all the time you've wasted and wish you had it back.

Roboform for me. But it's so much more than a password vault. It remembers credit cards, company tax ID, and a lot more.

I especially love the "safe notes" feature. I boilerplate my standard bid responses and just click to complete bid forms. Couldn't be as productive as I am without it.

Yah -- face recognition for getting access to your computer. it's the coming thing.

RoboForm of course! I think it's a NO brainer... Cost less than $30 and you can googled for a coupon, think it saves you $5. I am always using it, whenever I sign up any new affiliate merchants, new social websites, etc.. really saves you ton of time instead of looking for the passwords that are written on your little notpad or hidden in some text files on your hard disk :p (these are what I do last time prior to getting RoboForm)

    I remember them all.

Lol and no, I'm not joking. About 2 years ago I used
to write some of my passwords on a piece of paper, which
I hid in my bedroom. My brother found it and he thought
that it would be fun to log-in to one of my accounts.

He did a mess and I had to deal with the consequences.
From then on, I started remembering all of my passwords.
And not just the passwords on my accounts on the internet.
I remember everything, passwords of my bank accounts etc...

How do I manage to remember them all?

I have no idea. If you ask me now, I will not remember
all of them. But when I open up a login page, I will... lol

Sure, sometimes I do forget one of them (I'm human) and if that
happens, I just reset it (I rarely forget them though).

I open up Notepad and type in my username and password.

Then I save the file to a special folder where I keep all my logins.

I have this folder on my computer and on several USB sticks, so that I never lose my passwords.

It's a bit tedious to open up the Notepad files, but I know exactly where the folder is, and my system works for me all the time.

To tell you the truth, I don't put my financial passwords into RF. I have other ways of dealing with them -- that ALSO avoid any possible keyloggers.

Not sure, Aztec, but if LastPass was around a few years ago when I wrote my RF report, they hook into the keyboard processing, which means it doesn't do you any good if someone manages to get a keylogger installed on your computer.

If a keylogger gets installed where RF is used, it STILL won't see the passwords, because RF does not use the keyboard processing software.

This is an important security issue, imo.

    Lastpass is excellent and Free

Xmarks (formerly foxmarks) will synch your bookmarks AND your passwords.

both of the above are for firefox.

the advantage of them is 1. they are free, 2. you can install the plugins on any computer you use (e.g. you bookmark a website at work or create a new account andthen later that night at home you want to access the bookmark and/or sign in to the account). if you use these plugins you are golden.

oh and here's a useful tip (credit to Lifehacker, tips and downloads for getting things done) about passwords. create a STRUCTURE for every password you use so you can always remember it.

e.g. lets say your name is Bob and you were born in 1983

you might have "bob83" be the first part of your password and then the first 2 or 4 characters of the website name after that. imagine you're signing into hotmail, then the password would be "bob83ho" for that site. And for aol it would be "bob83ao"

note - that's just an example to illustrate how you can create a consistent structure. if you use a word and a number and a set number of characters from the website, it's really easy to remember, should have solid security and always work. oh, and i've found it best to use the 2-4 characters of the website from what shows in the address bar - instead of the website name. that can cause confusion and then sign in problems - exactly what we're trying to avoid.
