Where to put the opt in box.....?

Hi there,

I am looking to have an opt- in on my website promoting an ebook in the health niche.

I have decided not to go for a pop up one and go for one that is embedded into the landing page.

Where should I put the opt- in? I will be having a long sales letter with the usual headline. I guess I don't want to distract people from the headline or take people away from the copy? Where is the best place to put the opt in - just in the middle of the sales copy letter or on the side?

If anyone has any examples on their websites please let me know!

Many thanks..

if you think your optin is a distraction or not worth looking at then you need to rethink your optin, offer them something amazing maybe or make the optin more relevant to your page maybe they optin to get a free chapter or a test drive?

and for sure learn to use "google website optimizer" it will allow you to a/b split test your optin page locations for best results.

The only real way to find your answer is to...

    TEST, TEST, TEST

All you can get here on the forum is opinions.. you need data, statistics and conversion rates.

Test the optin box in various places on your page to find which position is best suited for your niche..

I agree on the "TEST, TEST, TEST" tactics. Also, trying putting your opt-in box above the fold. In addition to that, I have noticed that saying "I would appreciate if you joined my email list so I can keep in touch with you for further updates" works much better than "Join My List!"

Bottom line - are you wanting clients to opt in? Place your opt in in the most prominant position on your page, making sure at a minimum that it is above the fold (initial screen view)

Good Luck and keep on testing

Best way is to test. I found that optin forms placed in the bottom page can equally get good conversions, as the top half of the page. I have been testing 2 of my squeeze pages between Web Freelance Work - A Career Working Online Making Me $1200 A Month! and The Secrets Of Advertising Your Blog
