hey guys,

i have many different websites...some make money...some don't...
just wondering...when do you let go of a website...

and do you just let it go? or do you recommend selling it?

what if a product NEVER sold...have any of you guys
sold a website that never made money?

just need some ideas on knowing when to move on
from a task...and focus on the ones that DO make money...

thanks
BJ

I do not recommend having too many websites, you won't be able to give each the attention it deserves and they'd just sit there doing nothing. Any website in any niche can succeed if you give it time and attention. It takes tweaking and testing.

I recommend selling non-performers. If they have potential and get some traffic you can sell them for a not too shabby price.

I've sold non-performers before, you just shouldn't be too ambitious with the price thats all. You can sell them here on the WF, on Flippa or eBay.

    Hope that helps,

    Thanks,
    Adam

Sell it. Selling websites can be like a JV thing. Some people buy it just to own the product associated with it and blast it out to their list(s). Just be honest when selling it, talk about your product and who could benefit from buying the site.

However, the investment of putting it up for sale on flippa or whatever just adds to the money and time invested into that website, if it doesn't sell. If your not hopeful, start the bid at whatever it cost you to build the site + cost to list the site for sale. If it's low enough, it's sure to get some bids and consequently more attention.

    Hi,
l don't think there is a website that do not sell it only depends on how you manage it and who you're advertising the website to, maybe you're targeting the wrong audience. Now lets think about it this way, if you sell the website, the person tht will buy the site from is intended to make money with it, before the person can buy the website he/she must have completed his/her analysis very well and know that he/she will profit from the site. l don't think you need to sell the website, you may try to review your proceses and do some analysis about the website

How much would you guys expect a site with no sales and say 300-500 uniques a month to go for?

And how much would a few sales change that equation?

I've sold many sites with no revenue. I sell them as startups. If you have traffic or backlinks to them, that's even better. If it has great design, that's even better. People buy websites for different reasons. Your website has to have some value for it to sell. If it has no traffic, no revenue and is ugly, it's not likely to sell.

I've also deleted websites that I didn't want to put up for sale and weren't making any money.

If some of your websites are not making money inspite of investing money on them, then it is better to sell them. If you do not get a good amount of money for selling the websites, you can try and develop them so that you can earn some good amount of money from them.

If you are not in a serious hurry to get the money, I
will suggest you spend some time (or outsource) to get
traffic to the sites, either via article marketing or any
other method. Then when you have some results to
show, you can premium flip the site(s). Premium
flipping is a term I came up with that means flipping
sites not just to fellow IMers or webmasters who buy
sites but to COMPANIES who are currently in the
niche and currently spending big money for traffic.

But with premium flipping, you need to PROVE that
the site(s) are getting traffic before you can get
good money for them. And when I say good money,
I am talking about as much as $10,000+ per site!
