What content should I use?

Hey,
I'm thinking about making a site that advertises all the top affiliate offers. For instance, in the dating category there would just be a list of dating affiliate offers. I'd briefly describe each offer, as well as the pros and cons of using it. I would also rank each one.

Here's the tricky part. Now, I want to drive a ton of traffic to this site for obvious reasons. So I'm trying to get a feel for what sort of content I can put up on the website that will just bring in the traffic. What are your thoughts on making a website like this deal with current events, celebrity news...etc..? I'd write unique content on current events every day and have the offers up as well. Have any of you created a similar website? What do you recommend?
Thanks

Seems to me like you're mix-matching ideas here. I don't see how affiliate offers relate to celebrity news.

Yeah, celeb news will bring in viewers, but they're NOT going to be the type of people interested in affiliate offers.

I'll check it out. I'm already signed up with quite a few affiliate networks.

The thing is, if I write about current events, political stands, celebrities that get in trouble, etc... there's a chance to really drive a lot of traffic to the website. It gives me leeway to find a ton of keywords with some decent traffic that I have a shot at ranking for. The website itself would have 3 affiliate offers per section: 3 for health, 3 for beauty, 3 for dating and so on. Won't many of these people naturally end up signing up for certain affiliate offers? Even if that means just email submits to 'win' a product. I would think that people searching for celebrity news would be especially prone to signing up for free trials and free stuff. None of the offers require you to pay more than $4 up front.

It would be helpful if you could explain why you don't think these people would sign up

      Thanks again

The reason you won't get many signups by this technique is the fact that if you write about celebrity news, visitors will come on your website for the celebrity news and not affiliates. Hence, if you wish to get a good amount of traffic on your website and attract visitors for affiliates, then you should do the marketing work of your website for affiliates. Hence, it is better to write content about affiliates and not celebrity news.

Thanks Jonathan, I figured a lot of people must use that model. I just have to pick out the right keywords to rank for and see what happens.

          Thomson,
I'm not quite sure I understand. The reason I don't want to write too much content dealing with the actual affiliate offers is because many of these keyword markets are saturated with websites. It'll be a difficult battle to get my site top ranked in google with all the keyword competition having to do with these affiliate products.

I'm trying to circumvent this problem by generating traffic from current events and celebrity news. This way a lot of people will visit my site and from there they can take a look at the affiliate products and the reviews I've given to each one. Hopefully signing up for one or two after. If I completely missed what you're saying please forgive me.

          Thanks

Oh ok.. sorry I completely misunderstood you the first time round. I thought you were reviewing affiliate offers for affiliates. Sounds like you're just going to do normal product reviews.

Yes, in that case, then celeb type stuff will bring in the traffic and you can use CPA style offers to market to them - nothing wrong with that model, it is being used successfully all over the place.
