Can people find out all your domains?

All of my domains are created as "Add on domains" through Cpanel, and as such they are all subdomains of a main root domain. I use whois guard so that the ownership of the domains is hidden, but I've been wondering if someone could find out that all of my domains are subdomains of the main root.

I'd rather keep the branding of my domains separate, so if this is a problem I'd like to know. I use hostgator, and I'd appreciate if anyone knows of any likely ownership privacy issues.

I've looked around different forums and haven't found a way to do it... Even if there is though, you shouldn't be worrying about that, its not like a ton of people would know how to do this even if it is possible and secondly unless your site is making major money and you have some major secrets you just don't want disclosed then you shouldn't be thinking about little stuff like that anyway...

When you get to the point where you're making a lot of money then go hire a guy who knows all about domains and coding so he can give you all types of security measures if that makes you feel better but for now just put money in your pocket instead of worrying about if a competitor can see your website.

Short answer: yes. There are multiple different ways to accomplish this.

I use this place to find out who owns what and what domains are on a particular IP etc... Works great for spying on your competition.

This is also only way I have found to do that. They put the price up recently and it was expensive before (IMO).

Does anyone know a cheaper way to get the same result?

A "Reverse IP Domain Check" can easily list out all the domains hosted on the same server although they might not show that they are subdomains of a main root domain.

If you wanna hide your domains. Register them with different provider. Pay a fee when you register your domain to hide your personal information. Hosting them with different provider.

Try not to interlink with your site too often. Don't leave trace in your site's scripts that can point back to you. Some trace can be your (company) name, ad-sense code, you clickbank id, etc.

There are many ways to trace back to someone. It's cost time, and I don't like to spend my time tracing someone unless required. I admit I do that sometimes

One thing no one's mentioned here about IP's is that if you've got a basic Hostgator account, you're sharing your IP address with many other websites on that box, so in reference to IP, someone could tell that your multiple domains were on the same IP, as well as dozens of other domains that are someone else's.

If you have a dedicated IP for all your domains, then it would be more obvious which ones were yours.

Not directly, but indirectly. If you have a listed domain that shares IPs like mentioned above, people could figure it out pretty easily.

Hi, I am a newbie at this and I use hostgator. Is there a problem with people knowing that you own multiple domains?

Another way to tell is by things like adsense ids, analytic ids, and other tracking IDs.

If you're using shared hosting, no...it's not easy. As someone already mentioned you'll likely be sharing an IP with many other domains (unless you've requested a static IP, but that's uncommon).

I always turn on WHOIS privacy, so as to not make it easier for folks to find out my name or where I live
