True Keyword/Niche research

I love the warrior forum, I really do Here is my problem from so much disinformation floating around on the net! Anyone who has had success with a Niche, please outline the steps you use to find success, ie.. the steps to find that Golden nugget! The steps you use to determine what is a successful keyword, longtail or short, what makes you believe a keyword(longtail or short) is a good choice, also what makes you think the Niche you chose is good also, thanks.

Before anything else, your research should tell you a LOT.

I submit articles one at a time to several sites, I use different titles, headlines, and keywords for similar articles on different sites. I then see which ones are getting the most clicks or best results.

Just for the record, the most clicked, is NEVER the most successful.

I've had VERY similar or sometimes even the same articles rank very differently between article submission sites. ie An article on articlebase can land me on the first page of google, but the same article end up on the 9th page of google with ezine.

So how do you find your keywords to use? How do you determine if a keyword is worth digging even more? Keyword count.etc..

Which ever article/keywords are getting the best results.
Which ever article/keywords, stay on the first page of google. As long as you track your links, you will be able to tell which keywords attract the most clicks/best results.

    1. Go to the Google Keyword Tool: https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

    2. Start with a generic keyword and keep "Use Synonyms" checked.

    3. Find keywords that get a decent number of local or global search every month.

    4. Click "Add" at the far right for each keyword that meets your criteria of search volume.

    5. Open another browser window and go to the Google search page.

    6. Drill down your list of keywords and look at the make-up of the competition in the Top 10.

    7. If they're all TLD's (homepages, like acme.com), take that keyword off your list and move on.

    8. Keep the keywords where the Top 10 at Google are full of article pages and long URLs (inner pages of sites).

It doesn't have to be more complicated than that. TLD's mean hard to compete... article pages and inner page URLs mean easier to compete.

    Zeus,

That is good information. I have actually been trying to find that information. Since Im new to Internet Marketing I really did not know how to find keywords. I know what niche I want to be in, but I had to know what keywords to target...and know I know how to find them. I do appreciate your advice.

I like to keep it simple...

    Seo Book Keyword Suggestion Tool
Free Keyword Suggestion Tool from Wordtracker

(can't add links 'cus I'm a newbie... google 'em)

Throw in my main keyword and then work my way down the list while doing an analysis of the competition.

Aside from that it's a matter of what do people want to buy and how are they searching for it.

I know, I'm boring but it works for me.
