The tools don't make the marketer, the marketer makes the marketer.

Digital is use of technology; computers, tablets and cellphones.

'Regular' is door to door, cold calls, poster and flyer distribution to name but a few.

Your 'Regular' sounds more like Sales than marketing but we get the point

'Sales' is the second stage to marketing - the actual exchange of money for the rendered product or service.

'Marketing' is an information exchange to find out the needs of a demographic and / or obtaining prospects.

The job title 'Sales & Marketing' should technically be vice versa (Marketing & Sales), respective of the process.

If anything, posters and flyers could be critiqued as 'advertising' since there is no active feedback.

          Alright!

"the actual exchange of money for the rendered product or service" is what is called a TRANSACTION, sales occur just before that.

"find out the needs of a demographic" is just a part of what's called the "Market Research" in the Marketing Plan, though it's not even the beginning.

"Marketing & Sales" as a title, if ever this is still a relevant one, at least defines the right process, indeed.

"posters and flyers" are normally CREATED by the Marketing Team / Dept. and then handed to the Sales people for their use to advertise, somehow, the products they sell.

A transaction is part and parcel of the sales process. It is the 'close' of the sale.

Likewise Market Research is often bracketed in marketing as a primary step, of which the 'marketer' usually has responsibility as 'observer' of and 'provider of 'awareness'. Certainly not true in all cases, granted, but particularly common in SMEs. Similarly, an 'Internet Marketer' working in their pants to sell an ebook, performs market research in relation to keyboards and current websites and then goes on to build and bring awareness to their own.

Posters and flyers are indeed 'adverts'. 'Advert' is one cherished keyword to attract this work as a graphic designer who needn't (and in my case, isn't) internal, but in a corporate business, I agree that a Marketing Dept would likely handle the task.

However, Blogging and Podcasting does not necessarily implies 'marketing' per se...

I consider offline marketing to be like flyers and brochures things like that. Then I considered online marketing is like PPC , Instagram all those type of networks to get that exposure. I have tried both and they are both good but I've done better with offline marketing.

  • I think Digital Marketing as opposed to Regular Marketing beacuse There are many facets of traditional marketing and examples might include tangible items such as business cards, print ads in newspapers or magazines.
