Hi everyone, I have just started using Aweber and have noticed while testing my follow up messages that they go into the spam folder on gmail accounts. I looked at the score given to my messages and they are all between 0 and 2. Does anyone else have this problem or overcome this problem Thanks Rick |

On the signup page, it's always helpful to ask people to add your email address to their contacts lists or whitelist. All the major marketers do this. Many of them explain exactly how to do it for each email system. E.g., Marlon Sanders gives comprehensive instructions. |

Email providers like Yahoo expect Sender ID and and Domain Keys to be used so that the domain used as the from address can be verified as an authorized sender from the Aweber mail servers and IP address. I am surprised that more email list management providers not educating their clients on this. I think Aweber might provide this option to their publishers so you may want to contact them and find out. Sure whitelisting instructions help... but it would be better if you could hit the inbox instead ;-) |

I've noticed that when I have signed up to a few newsletters etc in the last few weeks that many more are landing in the Spam folder. It doesn't happen every time but it does happen a lot. As mannex says it is our responsibility as marketers to inform our subscribers that this may be the case and try to get them to add our email address to their contacts or to whitelist us. Saying that its often difficult enough getting them to confirm opt-ins. But I've seen a lot of big names trying to teach their subscribers. And its up to us to do the same. Andy |

Personally I don't think I've ever whitelisted anybody... how many people actually take that step?

Send a complaint to Aweber. They will investigate it. But always there is a possibility of some email messages going into spam folder. Just optimizing your server with SPF, Domainkeys etc would work. . |

Just a Quick note to add about a similar problem I had---I was really trying to make an impression of professionalism by sending my followups using HTML. WRONG thing to do...losts of mail clients view that as possible spam and point it to their junk. I always use plain text now and have gotten a super low % of bounced. Almost all are getting delivered. I agree though that unless someone already knows of you or was sent to you by someone they know...Instructing them to whitelist and telling them how is probably going to be a waste of time. You may get 1 in 50 to do it who knows. But I would rather keep focusing my time and attention to getting 20 new subscrbers than working that hard for the 1. Just keep on keepin' on and if you are sending your followups HTML..try just plain text and see what happens ![]() Cragar |
