Making a WordPress blog read and flow well?

I've been browsing online to try and find out how to create WordPress blog posts that look visually appealing and had no luck.

Are there any plugins to help with this?

What kind of fonts, text sizes, headers, etc.. work well?

One of my blog posts looks ridiculous because the H1 and H2 tags are too big with huge spacing between lines and I'm not sure how to modify that.

Here are some examples of blogs that are clear and easy to read:

Some sort of WordPress blog formatting guide in terms of SEO and aesthetics would be great.

Any suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks

My best advice would be to look at some similar, popular blogs in your niche and learn from them.

Generally, you'll only want to use the <h1> tag once (at the top of the post) and the <h2> tags sparingly as sub headings.

Your theme CSS will also determine things like line spacing, fonts and so on, so changing to a different theme (or altering the css file) may also help.

If you haven't picked your theme yet, you should know that the best ones already have their fonts, colors, sizes etc. set up nicely and require little to no modification(really up to you if you still want to change that)

You can modify these things on your own by editing your CSS, I recommend using Custom CSS plugin and ALWAYS use it when you're making any changes. If you don't know any css you'll have to look it up yourself, should be easy considering it's pretty straight forward and requires only little practice before you'll start getting hang of it.

You could just use that site you were directing us to as an example.

Go to the bottom of Neil's pages and see if it's a premium theme that he is using. It most likely is. Premium costs top $$.

If you want Free, then you can just simply go inside your WP dashboard and choose a theme more suited to your taste for free.

    Thank you.

I do have a paid theme that I am using for my website and I do like the layout for the most part. I just notice a lot of blogs that visually look appealing with clear fonts, colours, spacing, images, and so on..

Perhaps I will have a play around with different sizes for headings, spacing, and main text to make sure each blog post has a certain style to them.

One thing I've discovered recently that has helped me take some of my WP sites to the next level are color palette generators.

I use a couple to get some ideas, but these two are my favourites:

    colorhexa.com

    59times.com/Legacy/color-palette-generator/color-palette-generator.aspx

These tools give you hex codes for complementary, contrasting and other color combinations. You then just work on the CSS in your theme to get things looking the way you like (or your theme might have easier customization dashboards so you don't have to tinker with the CSS).
