Default In a nutshell, how does one rank on youtube for keywords?

Pretty much what the title says...

Where I work we represnet different acts (comedians, etc..) and I just put a video of a comedian on YouTube 2 days ago and the sales staff loves it (I just started working here last week). My 'boss' came in a told me to make sure I get one of our acts to come up #1 in youtube for 'comedian.'

I told him that there was no way a new video is going to rank #1 right out of the gate and that it will take time and money.

He "find out how much" and "make it happen."

So I am asking, in a nutshell how can I get my vids to rank for keywords. I know ranking for 'comedian' is a bit much but how about a niche comedian?

Thanks
