Default Sales pages - advice needed!

Hi folks

I've just joined the forums and would appreciate a bit of advice.

I'm starting out selling e-products, and have a pack consisting of an e-book and 8 MP3 downloads that I want to sell. I already have a website. I also have AWeber. Problem is, I'm stuck on what to do next! Perceived wisdom seems to suggest that I have a sales page under a different domain name from my website, though I'm not quite sure why - can't I just set up a page on my website? I'm actually thinking of transferring my domain name anyway, to a self-build website with an integrated online shop. If I DO need a separate mini-website as a sales page, would one of the freebie sites such as 123reg.com be OK for this? Cost is a major factor, but professionalism is important, too!

I'm also figuring out whether to just have a Paypal button on the sales page linked to AWeber, with the files uploaded to a site such as MediaFire, so that folks would get an automated message with the download link when they ordered: alternatively I could use Clickbank. Too many choices, I fear! Is there a simple ABC somewhere for this process, geared towards non-techies?

Any thoughts welcome!
Chris

Ehm, many ways to do it. Don't do it the way you think you want to do it here.

#1 - You should set up a salespage on a PAID hosting, own domain name.

#2 - Then use either paypal or CB to redirect the sale to a thank you page, again on the same domain.

#3 - Upload the files to the same, or different domain and just link to them on the TY page. That's 100% automated delivery.

I'd put up a "Squeeze" page where you offer a Free something. You have Aweber so use it to capture names.

And....get a WebCam and put up a Video of you extolling the benefits of getting your Freebie....with you pointing to the sign up form.

There are lots of examples of "Squeeze" pages. Some people call them "Landing" pages.

Here's a simple example of how a Dentist is using a "Landing Page" to gather names of people who'd like a Free Teeth Whitening;

Special Limited Time Offer For Facebook Users

And...there's many more examples of people selling ebooks or courses with Squeeze Pages and a 2 or 3 minute Video. The GREAT thing about videos is...you can SHOW your product....and explain how it can benefit viewers.
