100% instant commission on every 3rd sale. What do affiliates think?

Just wanted to get affiliate perspective on this commission structure Rapid Action Profits script offers:
I want to give 33% commission, so with RAP it's

1st sale 0%
2nd sale 0%
3rd sale 100%
1st sale 0%
2nd sale 0%
3rd sale 100%

The big advantage is instant commissions to payal, but an affiliate would have to make 3 sales in order to get a commission and that's what I think would scare away some of the potential affiliates.

Anyways, I wanted to get some real affiliate input on this before proceeding.
What do you guys(and gals) think?

Thanks! Your input is appreciated

I wouldn't promote it unless i knew that i could make those first two sales!

Would especially not be one to email out to my list and plus if i got say 32 sales after emailing it out twice or even 3 times or whatever (an example) then i would be annoyed that i was only 1 off another commission.

The instant paypal is good but 33% is kinda low commission for a one time thing.

Every other sale and it would be alot better at the very least.

    It depends on the product.

But if it's a digital product 33% probably won't cut it... Most guys are paying 75%, a lot of RAP guys are paying 100% upfront and 50%+ on the back.

Affiliates have a lot of choices, so it's got to be a pretty damn good product to convince anyone to do anything for 33% of the sale.

If there's no shipping or much work involved on your end, why don't you bump it to 75%... Affiliates are much more likely to promote and the 25% you keep is free money you wouldn't have had anyways.

You won't find many affiliates wanting to promote a product at that rate. MInimum 50% will see more affiliates and there will be a better win/win situation for yourself and your affiliates.

      Hi Chris

If you're expecting a large proportion of your sales to come from affiliates, I'd agree with the other posters who've urged you to adjust your pricing.

The vast majority of the instant commission products we list are offering between 50% - 100% on the front end. The rare products that offer less, tend to be more highly priced; such as seminar tickets @ $250+

There's be less resistance to a 33% commission rate on back end or recurring commission products.

    Hi Chris,

Other than paying the merchant on the first sale to limit attempts at affiliate fraud, RAP is very much oriented toward making sure affiliates are fairly compensated (i.e. as stated in the quoted commission percentage).

They are your BEST traffic source - very targeted, and to some degree, pre-qualified!

That's why the payment schedule with Rapid Action Profits at 33% is actually:
    1st sale 0%
    2nd sale 100%
    3rd sale 0%
    4th sale 100%
    5th sale 0%
    6th sale 0%
    7th sale 100%
    etc.

After the first sale, the affiliate gets the FIRST of every three sales. That way their compensation (after the first sale) always MEETS or EXCEEDS the stated commission percentage.

    I'm a fan of a product I've recently purchased.

The creator just implemented an affiliate program. He chose a 40% commission to be paid on the first of the month after a 30-day refund period.

A potential 59-day wait is a lot of trust. I *might* be willing to do that for 50%+. He's no doubt looking at the 10% as extra income spread across a potential number of sales. I see it as just one more reason I shouldn't promote his product.

Yes, I like the product. However, this is my job. It pays my bills. Sometimes I make choices about where to apply my efforts based on financial criteria.

As others have said, if it's digital, go with 50% at a minimum.

    66% of zero is zero.

It would make me hesitate. If it were a perfect match for one of my sites I would still consider it, but I would have to be convinced it was significantly better than my other options as an affiliate.

My personal choice would be 33% on my first, second, and third sale. What if I make 2 and then the product sinks?

I'm with the others.. 33% is a bit low, and in the absence of more information I'd stay away...

It all comes down to what your competitors are offering their affiliates for a comparable product.

If you have a one of a kind, can't get it anywhere else type product then of course I would promote it but if you are offering 33% paid as you've stated and your competitor has a comparable product which they pay 100% of every other sale then I'd probably go with that.

All things being equal... the most money in my pocket at the end of the day wins.

    thanks for the replies!
Looks like the majority prefers regular commissions instead of this type.

Anyways, I'm actually referring to my $97 killer video template affiliate program. it's a service not an ebook and the margin is such that 33% is what I can give to affiliates.

I'll see if there are any alternatives and let you know what I choose.

Possibly, you guys just saved me a bunch of affiliates

For a service, I might be more inclined to go with 33%.

On a fixed product (ebook, for example), less than 50% tells me that the creator values their time more than mine. However since you have to put in additional time on each sale, a larger percentage seems reasonable.

it could work if you could make the affs think they would make the first sales ect
but i think making a script like this would be quite hard also

    Thanks for the input.
I went with idevaffiliate on this one with the regular commissions as many of you seem to not like/trust the above scheme. I highly value the opinion of actual affiliates and if you're used to be paid the regular way, let it be the regular way
