My question is this How do I get targeted twitter followers? I understand the motto "Follow and be followed" I even practice it. What I dont understand is how you can get followers that are not trying to sell you something. I know that your going to have that all time, but I have 362 followers and I bet 85% if not more of them are just other tweeters trying to promote themselves. So they are not even colse to being interested in my blog or site. any advice would be great. |

There are a few sites where you can monitor you "brand" as it appears on twitter (splittweet is one that comes to mind) You can input keywords to monitor for and when you see people talking about them add them as a friend, I think that is probably the best direct targeting you can do on twitter -- also search for #hashtag entries related to your niche.

It takes using twitter search to find those who are actually needing what you have to offer. There are several "tricks" that when used in combination can do a great job at this. |

Well even when using Twitter search I find alot of other people just trying to get their product/service sold...So, I still have a lot of work to do and learning this is a huge learning process. Let me ask you guys this. Does anyone eventually reach the point where they dont have to learn any more, or does it just keep on going and going? |

Give good content and be interesting and people will follow because they want to, not because they want reciprocity. Plus, a lot of people who are trying to sell stuff are marketers too, put a good offer in front of them and some will bite... You're never done learning. | |

My recommendation is not to waste too much of your time on Twitter. Bit like article marketing atm it will not make you big bucks. Well tahts my opinion anyway |

Getting targeted followers is a lot like getting targeted leads. You have to go where they live. Give them lots of valuable content they're interested in. Don't send pitches to them. Treat them they way you'd like to be treated, and you're halfway there. I'd personally rather have 100 targeted followers who are passionate about what I am than 100000 of Britney Spears' followers who couldn't care less about the content I give them. Cheers, John |
