How would you monetize 20K monthly organic traffic?

Hey guys,

I have a blog running in the software/web development/web design area which is getting 20K monthly organic traffic. If it was yours, how would you monetize it or get the most out of this traffic?

Cheers!

Are you currently attempting to make money with it? If so, how and how much is it earning?

Have you ever attempted to monetize it?

Who is your ideal audience/target? What are they looking for?

What are your most read pages and topics?

What countries are the visitors coming from?

It's hard to say without knowing more about the site and your audience. You have to analyze your site and your visitors a bit to identify their needs. If they're coming to your site, they're looking for something... what is it? I'm assuming they're looking for some type of information. Create opt-in forms to capture leads and move those leads down a sales funnel.

You can try joining affiliate programs which you are blogging about in your website.
If you are already doing that, you can try contacting Admerwirks that will allow your site for publishing ads from their network ...

Thanks! But when it comes to SEO, this is just a too crowded area. Tons of websites already covering the subject.

Maybe I could retarget the current visitors to webhosting affiliate landing pages via FB Ads or something.

I think you'd have to consider the search terms that are bringing in that traffic and the demographics of your audience.

I mean, are they searching for info terms like 'how to...' or 'what is...' generic terms like 'web development' or product terms like 'Adobe Dreamweaver'?

Organic traffic is great because it can give you an idea of the intent behind the click. 'How to...' can give you some ideas for info products to sell; whereas 'what is...' or generic terms just means researchers. Product terms would get me thinking about whether there's an affiliate program for the product or an opportunity to develop a course about how to use that product...

I think I need to build a strategy for the website, a few funnels, some fresh new content with user intent, some lead magnets, an email list, some products...so many things to do and so little time available...

    There are two good options.

    Option # 01 - List Building.

Brainstorm the PERFECT lead magnet that your audience would love. Build an awesome funnel that would promote stuff they might like.

Option # 02 - Consult With Affiliate Manager.

Contact some of the larger CPA networks. Tell them that you have a ton of traffic but aren't sure how to monetize. They will bend over backwards helping you.

I`m already doing it but numbers are not quite as I expected http://prntscr.com/fma0dz - this is a very low conversion rate. Back in the days(like 3-4 years ago), the conversion rate was around 1%. Now it`s 0.1%). Plus, you only get paid once, for the initial deposit. Although an easy channel, it`s not worth it for me, nowadays.

With 20K you can try out Google Adsense. A better option is Affiliate Marketing, it may take up more of your time and effort but it's worth it.

You should also learn more about your visitor, see what they're interested in. Then try to build an email list so you can sell some kind of services (courses, books...) in the future. Hope this helps

From your brief description, it seems like affiliate marketing with regards to web design (WordPress templates) or web development would be excellent. 20K traffic is not too shabby but I wouldn't bother with Adsense yet.

Adsense usually requires a lot of page views for it to be worthwhile. Keep building up your KW's without being too spammy with ads.

That`s what I thought. I had Adsense ads before but they weren`t worth it, knowing that the user experience is affected. Not at this traffic volume.

    I would do the following:

    1. CPM advertising - Media.net
    2. CPC advertising - Adsense
    3. Sell Banner Space - Directly sell space to software companies or use the space for affiliate product promotion
    4. Capture and build a list of email subscribers so that you can monetize through followup.

Wow, why didn't you still implement the affiliate programs? This is the easiest way to earn money, however you need to spend some time to implement that. The other way, you can earn is accept sponsored posts or some advertising campaigns.

Building an email list should remain at the top of your list.

You will be able to retain your visitors.

Your retained visitors can then be monetized via affiliate programs / CPA offers which you do not need to promote it to them via your mails, but just get them to your website.

This way, there is no need for you to do any selling and your list will love you for the content and value you provide.

I may have tested (using banner ads) multiple offers for services or tools related to software, web development, web design (example: SEO tools, SEO services, traffic tools, hosting offers) Based on the result, you may know what your audience may really be interested in and focus on those types of offers.

use HIGH TICKET products/services. more easy and more money for you.
for example you can sell services for $2,700 each one, like I do. people love "Done for you" things...

  • Think about things differently. Instead of trying to convince them on what to buy, let them convince you on what to sell them.
