Hi, anyone has any kind of experience from FE International or Empire Flippers? I am looking to buy a site that will earn me good amount every month and from the looks of that FE International looks more professional and they have their own headquarter and site etc.
Should I go ahead and take the chance?

Just getting cold feet from investing around 1200 + USD, hence need to be perfectly sure.

Thanks,
Finn

I'm not sure you're going to get a straight answer

Your best bet would be to do due diligence re external SEO factors like DA/TF/CF/RD and cross reference that with alexa site info information.

Keep in mind that it's very common for buyers to buy sites only to find out they don't know how to maintain its income flow

investigate the traffic sources of the asset you're thinking of buying...

Where you buy it from probably is not the best measure of how good/real/worth it a site might be. Sure slightly better than just buying a random site from a random stranger but all the top 'flipper' sites have scamy or at least not fully truthful web sites for sale as well as great ones.

You can only do your own due diligence on any site you are looking at.

$1200 will likely only give you a site that makes around $100 a month max. Probably a lot less. If it says it has more than that then it is unlikely to be real or sustainable. The claimed monthly income is usually the biggest red flag. Why sell something that makes a large monthly income for little money. It makes no sense.

Ensure the site has been creating that income consistently for some time. If it just one month old then another red flag.

Identify the traffic source, will it remain after purchase, is it paid traffic, organic, social etc. You need to be 100% sure that you can continue to send the same traffic to the site after you buy it.

Lots of products (especially digital) sell amazingly at launch but fade rapidly. Then site owner sells based on great traffic and potential earnings.

If the site sells products make sure you can source the products (at the same price) after the sale. This one has caught me out in the past with seller promising to give supplier details after the sale. He did, it was a source that would not sell to me

If the site makes money from ads then ensure the site is compliant to the ad suppliers T&Cs. Plenty of (successful) AdSense sites get sold once they fear getting banned by the ad server due to site issues.

Another issue with AdSAense sites is that they can be made to look really good by click fraud. i.e. paying services to send large amounts of traffic to the site and then the owners manually click the ads randomly enough to look legit. At least in the AdSense console.

This can go on for a couple of months after you buy the site.

That is until it comes time for Google to Pay and then all your clicks are thrown out and you have serious chance of being banned.

So check the SEO of the site. If it has zero backlinks and thousands of daily organic or direct visitors then again red flags.

Use the Escrow option to make sure you get everything before they get paid.

  • Hey Finn!

I'm the content manager/marketer for Empire Flippers.

I would love to answer any questions you have, either here or you can reach me privately at greg AT empireflippers.com

We do have our own website with our blog and podcast. I would be happy to share some content relevant to buying sites that could help you with the due diligence process (which will help you whether you go with EF or FE).

I'm not sure if I can link to it here or not, but we have an entire podcast season dedicated to people buying online businesses over at The Web Equity Show (if you just google Web Equity Show, you'll find the website) where Empire Flippers co-founder Justin Cooke and buying expert Ace Chapman discuss the entire process from start to finish when it comes to buying online businesses.

I highly recommend listening to the entirety of Season 1 which covers more general details of buying and selling, then Season 2 which does a deep dive on the buying side specifically.

We don't have a traditional headquarters because our team is 100% remote. We embrace the digital nomad lifestyle, and we believe this model allows us to attract top talent to our brokerage. Last year we got into the Inc 500 landing at 161 on the list, so far we think our strategy is working out :-)

The commenter Writeaway is absolutely right in that sometimes a buyer will buy a business they don't completely understand. That can be bad for continuing the profits of the business.

I am not sure what your skill sets are, but for people just starting out in purchasing businesses, we often suggest to go with a content based site that derives its income from affiliate programs like Amazon or media display ads like Adsense. Mainly because these style of sites are relatively easy to maintain and more hands off.

We have plenty of ecommerce stores in our marketplace too, but ecommerce can be a bit more of a complex animal (dealing with shipping, logistics, often paid traffic funnels etc.), so you'll want to have a good grasp on that before purchasing a business like that.

We also have Deal Facilitators that can help you in deciding what is the correct criteria for your specific situation if you need to talk with someone over the phone.

Love to help anyway I can and hope you're doing well

They are Both very credible Million Dollar Companies now. I have seen whopper Transactions on both.

If you have not already I would just consult with either one and they will tell you exactly what they feel they may accomplish with your Web property and share with you some recent Successful Auctions that may make your mouth water.

Also both have incredible free content to add to your marketing arsenal.
