How many of you use craigslist as a source of traffic for your website, e-business, affiliate marketing etc..?

    Hey,

Yup, sure do. CraigsList is about 1/3 of my daily income.

New changes within CraigsList have made posting a real pain in the butt, but there are work arounds.

Fresh ip's and pva's will get your ad to stick....lots of money can be made on Craigslist.

No. The only way to get a significant amount of traffic from CL is to completely violate the TOU and spam the hell out of it. That's why it's a piece of crap now. Spammers who think the rules don't apply to them have ruined it.

So no, I don't. Craig is a friend of mine and I prefer not to abuse his site like that.

Hopefully he'll keep making things harder and harder to post so the spammers will get the message that they should find a more appropriate site. Though it is kind of fun having their ads removed when I find them.

  • lol, "do you use craigslist"

should be "do you spam craigslist"

answer=no for IM, too many ways to earn a living without pissing in someone else's creation/community

I did buy my truck with it, and sold my wii, and used it the way it's supposed to be used though and doesn't break the tos.

I don't use it because it pisses me off how other internet marketers use it. It seems there aren't many places in Craigslist that aren't infected by internet marketers . . . and yes, I mean infected. I was looking through job postings a while back, and over half of the ones that were posted led into internet marketing scams. They looked like actual honest job listings, but as soon as you e-mailed the person about it you were put on a list and e-mailed some totally irrelevant IM B.S. In fact, I went on a job interview at a law firm and the lady was telling me that CL had taken her job listing down twice because it got reported. I had to explain to her about how some bad internet marketers are f**king it up for everyone. End angry rant.

I have never used it but I have heard many people that they are getting good results from it.

I wanted to try it but the problem is that I just can't go through all the trouble of tricking craigslist to post my classified.

Good for you. Don't stoop to being a spammer. Anyone who has to spam to get business is not a good marketer and should work on their skills.

I voted no. Never have and never will.

I use to use Craigs List for its original purpose - classifieds, job listings etc. I found a few years ago it was better than the local usenet news group for buying/selling local things (NOT IM) and of course much cheaper than offline classifieds for job listings. A job posting in our local paper is outrageous and classifieds the last time I checked were like $15.

The last time I posted a local job I got resumes from half way across the world and from the other side of the country - not to mention the freakin' spam.

Sadly as some have pointed out here - the craigslist spammers have impacted its effectiveness. While it might not be illegal, I fully feel it is unethical to make an end run around a site's TOS to try to get something for yourself (a Sale).

It also takes a lot of effort to keep the scum bags off of craigslist - time that could be spent improving the site and HELPING others. I know the mods here go through Hell trying to keep the spammers off - they do a lot of work behind the scenes so that the Warriors Forum doesn't go to hell in a hand basket like craigslist has done.

      LOL

Have to laugh at some of these replies.

Spamming?? Is it the same kind of spam i receive in my email box from many that frequent this site?

Such as the newest greatest ebook that will make you a millionaire. Or check out my newest product and you too will make 100's a day.

Wait this must be good spam. Huh?

I use CraigsList daily. Sell a Tangible product that I feel has worth for the customer spending their hard earn dollar.

The Holly-er then thou syndrome for many of you is pathetic.

Yeah, spamming Craigslist for e-whoring or raking emails for pva money ...then i will agree with the masses.

If your selling a quality product ...there is no faster way to start making some money.

The pissed off one's are the same one's that can't figure out how to get a legit non-spamming ad to stick.

@ Jim - if you don't want to get those emails then opt out. It's really not that hard - a simple click.

As far as selling goods on CL goes no one said all sellers are spammers. You are allowed to post a single ad in a single category in the city closest to you or the object (no where else and no more ads) every 48 hours. Anything more than that is spam.

If you are following that guideline then you don't have a problem. If you're posting more that that (which I suspect anyone raving about huge traffic and huge income is - particularly if they need to employ the use of multiple proxy servers just to post) then you're a spammer. It's really pretty simple.

CL was designed to help you sell your crap to people in your area, not to help you sell your product to people in London. I've used CL every time I've moved with great results.

That's not holier than thou - that's fact. If you are unsure, feel free to email Craig or Jim and ask for clarification.

It a holier than thou thing with many.

IMer's have turned every available avenue that the internet has to offer as a selling tool.

Using the word Scumbag to address some people that use craigslist is out of lines.

Spamming has many meanings to many different people.

Using multiple Wordpress like sites - for selling / backlinking making linkwheels using the same article that have been put through a re-writer, that kind of spamming the net is fine. Yup, that's what Wordpress was intended for, huh?

How about those back-link packages that one can purchase. Let all run and post our anchor text links till the site has to shut down because of the over flow of spammers that have no interest in the site except for a backlink. That tactic is fine too. Right?

We all have our ways to produce income.

I gave up on it a long time ago. I was taught how to get away with spamming although we never called it that. Then they changed the rules and started charging for certain cities and now most cities. I don't think the prospect that I got from that list was worthy, if you know what I mean. Not buyers, mostly tire kickers and people looking for free stuff only.
