I just completed my first ebook and selected PDF but can I test to make sure that it works properly before I began marketing it?

    Yes... of course.

Simply upload the ebook (a .pdf file)to a folder on your domain, and then put a hyperlink to that file on your download page (i.e. http://yourdomain.com/downloadfoldername/myebook.pdf).

Then enter the URL of your download page into the address bar of your browser. When the download page is shown, click on the link created above. Your PDF file should open in a browser window. The browser window will also contain a "download" link so that the viewer can save the file to their own hard drive.

The real problem is NOT one of getting the PDF file to download... but of protecting the download page so that it is invisible to the search engines, and so that it is not shown to just anyone who simply enters the URL into their browser address bar (i.e. a non-customer).

If you don't "protect" the download page URL and the download file in some way... it will increase the unauthorized sharing of your ebook, with nothing going into your pocket.

Or you can include something in the ebook that allows such a person to sign up for your list or to buy something from you... thus connecting a person to you at a cost of one ebook...

I know this is used often here as a justification (rationalization) for not worrying too much about unauthorized downloads, but let's assume that the selling price for that "one ebook" is only $7.

Do you really want to recruit leads at $7 a pop?

Especially when that lead is a non-buyer?

You can test to sell your ebook to yourself using oronjo. You can try to buy it with your paypal or bitcoin and see if you can download it without a problem. You can test it with $1 price as well. Then you can delete it from oronjo at anytime. As long as you don't share the link, than no one can mess with your test. You can do the test anytime. Good luck!

What platform are you going to use?

If you're going to use Kindle, I suggest getting it formatted to .mobi for dirt cheap at Fiverr.
