Should I make affiliate links stand out or blend in with content?

I know few experts in this field and they normally blend affiliate link in the content 2-3 times. Sometimes people do not read full content if your affiliate link at the end of content then your link will get less exposure.

Jake, Ignore Justorys advice. He doesn't know any experts. He is simply responding with anything hoping to get his affiliate link in his sig clicked.

BTW the real answer is different people do different things and the only way to know which is best (in any specific case) is to split test and find out.

In your particular case I would say that writing a stronger call to action around your 'link' would have a far bigger effect on your click through rate.

lets come on discussion, I am agree that different people do different things and best way is to split test and find out. It was my suggestion and it always work for me.

About signature part, I didn't see such rule (no affiliate links) and by the way your signature also has affiliate link.

Personally, I have always made it clearly visible to my readers and visitors that it is a link, usually almost always light blue

I wouldn't send traffic directly to an affiliate link whether it's Organic traffic or Paid ads.

Instead I always send traffic to a lead 'capture' page.

But the link to my lead capture page (only 1) will come after my reader has read my full post / article.

The link will always definitely stand out in bold blue.

And is delivered by a strong call to action.

I don't believe in spamming my own article over and over with my own links.

I want my reader to read my full article.

Why?

Spamming my own content with links.makes me look desperate.

Plus I have found that the people who do read the full article are more apt to buy instead of just being a lead that endlessly reads emails.

At the end of the day, you want people to actually click on your affiliate link. That is the whole purpose of you pouring your heart, taking the time to write that article. Eventually, you want to make commissions.

Do it both ways.

Make your link bold.

Always include a Call To Action to tell your reader to check it out, buy your products, subscribe for something etc.

Include that Call To Action multiple times.

The latter approach will make your affiliate link stand out and it will be good for those who are skimming through your article.

As Tony Marriott says, the only way to find out is to split test yourself and determine which method works best for your website.

I don't think that most of us could offer you any real advice because we have enough information. I don't think that a generalized answer will really help you.

The reality is that the answer is really dependent upon many factors. What kind of traffic sources are you using? What kind of traffic are you getting? Is the screen grab that you posted just an example, or is it the content in question? If it's just an example, then what kind of content are you creating, and in what niche?

As Edwin wrote, "it depends".

I think that the best approach, in your case, is to do a split test. You can then see how well both methods convert. Who knows, maybe you could even turn it into a really cool case study, and make some profit off of that.

As Tony mentioned, I believe, it is all about split testing. I usually highlight my affiliate links, add call to action buttons and add banners in the sidebar widget (if you have the one).

Try to put the links within first 4 paragraphs. People who search for a particular product review are the ones who are already 50% convinced and want the correct information to make them 100% sure if they want to buy or not.

So, if they find the starting paragraphs useful, they may have to click the link and purchase.

Even better, if you are offering some bonuses, with call to action link mention that you get a credit for their purchase and will only be able to provide bonus if they use your link.

Lastly, add a big button at the end of the post that says "click here to get instant access".

Hyper link ONE time in each email. Do not put a bunch of links in because they will get filtered. Cloak all affiliate link with ClickMagick and your own domain.

Also people do not want to read a novel in your email. The only purpose of the email is to get a fast and qualified link.

Affiliate links need to stand out or your subscribers will not be drawn to click on them. When someone is reading your content they only browse through it and they stop at what pops out to them. All in all you links must stand out but they must be blended throughout your content.

The comments are litterally half half!

So im going to go with the affilliate links that stand out since i find it looks nicer, makes my articles look slighly more professional, and I know more eyes will be drawn to it.

I make it clear for them, i dont think its "pushy", i just show them an offer and if they dont want it, dont click, that simple.

FUNCTION OVER FORM! It depends on the subject of the article. If what you're writing is a product comparison article, then the links need to stick out. But if what you're writing about is some helpful tips, etc...with only a soft push for sales, then maybe the links shouldn't be as obnoxious in-your-face.

Sometimes the links need to stand out, sometimes YOUR CONTENT needs to stand out out (which in turns helps push attention to your soft links).

I agree in principle, but with a bit different spin.

If the function of the link is to add value to the content, blend it in. For example, I might be writing a buying guide for fishing reels and explaining the drag system. I find a reel on Amazon (or Bass Pro, or wherever) with a nice exploded view of the drag I'm describing. I could just link to it, or I could use an affiliate link if it's available. Either way, I'm going to use a blended link, something like (click here for an exploded view).

For explicit offers, whether to buy or opt into a list, I'll use the highlighted version with a strong call to action.

Often, I'll substitute a simple button for the text link. I want them to click the link, and I'm not going to be bashful about it.

That's me, and my audience. You might find a more subtle approach works best, or you may find that your audience needs to have their attention strongly directed.
