Post 500: Woo Hoo! Free Blog Installation and Configuration for 5 People!

by 14 comments
This is my 500th post on the Warrior Forum. A while back I noticed some warriors doing things for members of the Warrior Forum once they reached milestones on their post count. I thought that was a really good idea.

So for post number 500 I will install and configure a wordpress blog, including plugins and theme... for the first 5 warriors who can convince me why I should install a blog for them instead of someone else.

I am doing this for 5 people since this is the first time I have done this. 1 person for every 100 posts I have made on this forum.

I am going to let this run for a while... so I can give enough people a chance to get in on this offer. Usually offers like this are gone in the blink of an eye. That is why I will choose the 5 that put the most effort in their post... instead of just the first 5 that respond.

      Congratulations Dennis!

I don't need the blog thing, but I hope your generosity helps someone that needs it!

      Pay it Forward!

That's ok. I was like "Wowza! 2 Responses Already."

Just tell me why you need me to install your blog... or why I should install your blog... or something along those lines.

I would just like to take a moment to thank Dennis for his offer and his help.
Here is the WP install he did for me : Art By D'Linn It's still in the process of being made but it's a great start.
    Thanks again Dennis.

Congratulations on your 500th post. I don't need a blog done but I know there are people who do. This is a very generous thing for you to do. Kudos to you.

Because I am totally and completely technologically challenged when it comes to the installation of anything. When I was 11 my Dad asked me to plug in the speakers of his stereo. I did. Into the wall socket. Ever see a grown man cry over destroyed woofers and tweeters? I have to admit, it almost blew out the glass in the windows of the living room with the resulting high pitched shrieking (the blown speaker's not my Dad's).

My cell phone only functions on the basics. I don't have speed dial set up for anybody because I can't figure out how to do it. I know how to turn on the TV but can't turn on the DVD player. We have call waiting on our land line, for me it should be named call wasted because I invariably hang up on one of the parties.

Maybe you shouldn't give me the installation. I might be jinxed and it could be contagious.

Dude, that is awfully nice of you to offer. As good as it sounds I need to learn to do it myself.

Of course once I do the following:
    1. figure out what the URL be
    2. who will host it... bluehost/gator/SiteBuildIt
    3. If it is not SBI I will probably go with bluehost?
    4. Then with a canned theme
    5. I may pre-write some entries/articles for spider food before taking (big breath) the leap

I would however like to be able to ask a question or two if I am stuck?

Congrats on your 500th post btw. You and the other Warriors philanthropical contributions are appreciated more than you know!

      1. Do some keyword research to determine a good domain name.

      2. HostMonster is who you should host it with. I use Bluehost which is essentially the same as HostMonster, only HostMonster's customer support is a lot better. That is why I recommend HostMonster for you. If you need to contact support they are usually able to help pretty quickly and won't beat around the bush like BlueHost tends to do sometimes.

      3. Again Hostmonster.

      4. Don't make the mistake of hosting with the wordpress free hosting. If you put affiliate links on the blog, they will shut it down. Theme selection will just depend on your personal tastes. Just consider your visitors when selecting a theme. Make certain it is easy to navigate and read. Host your blog on your own hosting account.

      5. Very good thinking. I am the world's worst when it comes to keeping my blog up to date. Try to have at least a weeks worth of posts created. Then you can post those already created, and work on new ones... that way you have a constant flow of posts on your blog.

Here within the next week or so, I am going to put together a site that focuses solely on Wordpress. I will try to remember to let you know once it is finished so you can learn everything you need to know about Wordpress.

      Thanks. -- Dennis Grubbs
