Hey fellas!
So I've always heard, on the internet, and pretty much everywhere I go on the IM world, that THE way to be succesful online is to have your own product. If this is true, then I'm in a little bit of trouble, because I don't think I know much about IM (I actually started with IM about 3 1/2 months ago), or anything like that, and I don't know where to start, if I'm ever going to. Is there some way I can use to create my products? Like seriously, I have no idea. I need opinions from people with experience here. Another question (and I probablly know the answer for this one, but what the heck, I can ask right? hehe)... Is there a way to make that much money that you get when you create a product, but without actually creating one, or dealing with customers WHATSOEVER? So that's pretty much it, hope I get some good info here. Thanks a lot! |

Product creation is just one way to become succesful, but not the only one.
If you don't know much about IM then either join up with an expert or create a product about something that you do know a lot about. The process is exactly the same no matter what niche you're in. The only problem with the IM niche is the amount of competition, which isn't that much of a problem but it could be a lot easier finding a less exploited niche. To create the products all you need is a text editor like Word, and for the professional edge convert to PDF (free), and ta-da.. you now have a product. It really is as simple as that. Best of luck

Well, if you are new at this, I would not build your own product yet. Start with some affiliate products, like ClickBank products. Once you learn how to build and promote a site, and make a few bucks, you can start thinking about your own.

I agree with David, maybe start with affiliate marketing - that way once you have started making sales, you could use your new found expertise to package your own product and sell. You can then start recruiting affiliates, and start a list of product buyers to sell to at a later date

Hello Abraham,
If you don't know that much about IM, maybe you should do a product on something you know a lot about? What are your interests, and passions? Is there something you could write about for days and days without running out of ideas? Nevertheless, for IM, you might want to pick up a subniche, like the following:
Once you decide on a subniche, collect as many free reports as you can on that topic. I don't know about you, but I have a ton of PDF reports on my computer about every topic in IM. If you want to take it further, you can even buy products you are interested in to gather information. Once you have collected all the information about your topic, try to write an ebook about it. But always remember to create a USP (unique selling proposition) so that your product is different from all other products on the same topic. For example, let's say that you are interested in using social media as a means of driving traffic to a web page. Do the following:
If you want to do video, you can use CamStudio (free) or Camtasia (30 day trial and then $299). These are the only two I have used. I wish you the best in your product creating endeavors! |

Wow Aitor, that was a GREAT post! Thanks a lot, I'll definitely use that strategy if I ever think about creating a product. Thanks again!

There are alot of "free" methods on this board, collect a couple of them, test them out. and write a pdf report. in the IM world it is all about proof.

One thing that you should be aware of with Clickbank though is that initially they have a somewhat confusing qualification status that you have to attain prior to you being able to get your hands on your earnings. Details are listed within the Clickbank terms but I just thought that I would mention it.
You will find that everyone will encourage you to build your list first and guess what they are 100% right. If you own or purchase a product with resale rights then you can rebrand as your own and split up for free giveaway's to increase your list size or sell-on outright. Hope this helps anyway Abraham :-) Kindest Regards - Graham Price |

While you're waiting for the inspiration to create your own true product you could join a couple of membership sites that have resale rights products available for you to download and insert your own name and order link, and private label rights products where you can change the word document to your liking and regenerate the pdf using the free open office - now you have your own product

Keep in mind that the #1 thing that people want in IM, regardless of the sub-niche, is to know what works and what doesn't.
People want faster, clearer, easier ways to market their business on the internet. What you want to do is to setup a list of tactics or strategies to try, then actually implement them and tell people what worked and what didn't. That sort of first-hand experience is what people are willing to pay for, they learn to avoid what doesn't work (or works less well) and they get to implement winning techniques fast. For example, if you focus on Adwords advertising, open up and account and run a few campaigns using different techniques for writing ads, setting up keywords and driving traffic to products - then share with people the results, good and bad. That would be a first version of a product. Same goes for any technique - affiliate marketing, writing your own sales pages, list building, product creation, etc... Jeff |

I'd like to throw in my own opinion with what worked for me when I first started out.
Get some quality PLR (Private Label Rights) that comes with a sales page, graphics, autoresponder sequence etc. There are loads of PLR membership sites on the net. But you need to choose a membership site that offers PLR to different products each month because then you will have fresh, brand spanking new PLR each and every month thereby making it easier to sell. When I started out I joined a PLR Membership club because they were offering PLR rights to a product in a niche that was getting really hot. I joined up, added a few bonuses, FTP'd my already setup sales page and ebooks. Two years later I'm still making sales from it. Like most things in life if you want quality you have to be prepared to pay extra. If you'd like the link to this site as they are still cranking out quality PLR then just PM me Abraham and I'll happily give it you. |

Hi Abraham,
I have several thoughts... If you want to create a product in the IM niche but don't have any experience there, you can always interview experts who do. If you just want to be in the IM space but not necessarily create a product on that topic, then find something you do know that others are eager to learn about and create a product on that. If you want to make good money without making the product or dealing with customers, then affiliate marketing may be the better way to go. |
