Link-Building Company

Hi everyone - I'm new here so please forgive me as I learn the ropes. Someone in our Facebook group suggested I write to get some feedback on something that happened to me today. There's a link-building company out there that I was in the process of doing business with. I had a few questions so they suggested I Skype (live-message) someone in the company named Kevin (I don't think this is his real name).

Anyway, I asked him for their Terms of Service and Privacy Policy because I couldn't find them on their site, along with where their company was located, etc. I think there's something really wrong with "Kevin" because he went off on such filthy, profane rant over Skype messenger. He also threatened me, my family and my business. He says he's going to open up something called XRumer and send a million bad links out regarding my online business.

I have filed complaints with Skype and PayPal and also the IC3 website but I was wondering if any of you could tell me what this "XRumer" thing is? I'm a bit worried that he has the power to ruin my business. I'm just a gal who minds her business, plays by the rules and doesn't like confrontation. However, I think I'm reaching my saturation point and need some help from you wise-ones.

Thank you all so much!

I wouldn't worry too much. From a quick search on google i have found out that xrumer is a forum spamming software:

XRumer is a forum spamming software marketed as search engine optimization program, created by BotmasterLabs, that is able to register and post to forums (forum spam) with the aim of boosting search engine rankings. The program is able to bypass security techniques commonly used by many forums and blogs to deter automated spam, such as account registration, client detection, many forms of CAPTCHAs, and e-mail activation before posting. The program utilises SOCKS and HTTP proxies in an attempt to make it more difficult for administrators to block posts by source IP and features a proxy checking tool to verify the integrity and anonymity of the proxies used.

Tell him to ... off and go ahead if he has the time to spend. You can always disavow links to your site.

Thank you so much. I'm still very new at all of this and I actually Googled XRumer before I posted here. But I still wasn't sure what it was, so your answer really helped me.

Do you think I should post the name of this company here so no one else gets involved with them? They are definitely not legit and I'd hate to have anyone get socked by them. I still have the chat log and emails (I wouldn't post those!) so I'd just be passing along my experience and their name - not slandering or anything.

Again, thank you for being so kind. My Facebook group said you guys and gals were stand-up, respectful people and they were right. Ciao for now -

You need to think of all this as just business. You need to separate out the emotional side of things.

In every area or everything you will find people who don't fit with you or your business (I use that phrase to be polite).

Forget about them just move on. Most threats are probably forgotten as soon as you end the call. These people are out to make money and that is what they focus on. Trying to destroy your business is not profitable for them so they just wont bother.

As I said just move on and focus on things that will help you grow your business and make more money. Don't respond or re-engage in any way or waste another second on them.

Every second you are worrying or even thinking about these people you are neglecting your business and yourself.

If you do business in any form for any length of time you will come across people (including customers) who are rude, lazy, unhelpful, uncaring, negative, bloody minded, complaining and will waste your time and effort at every opportunity.

Thankfully they are a very small minority and there are a lot of people that are the exact opposite.

Drop the former like a hot brick and embrace the later. You will be more successful and much happier.

Thanks - already done that. I feel much better since PPG19 sent their response, however, I still think I should post the name of this company so no one else gets taken.........?

Don't post it here... Against forum rules!!

Reality is this is your personal experience. It may or may not be the same for others.

Focus on improving your own business - I know it's hard sometimes but you need be able to let go emotionally.

Believe me, I've been there, done that - You'll never get the satisfaction you crave and additional confrontation can just stir the pot.

Thank you for your thoughts but all I needed was some information about XRumer and PPG19 responded already -- and in a kind, supportive way. I don't mean to sound dismissive but really, I AM over it. I just don't want anyone to do business with a really BAD company if it's at all possible. Again, I think I'm all set.
