When Forwarding A Domain, Why Does GoDaddy Recommend "Permanent Forwarding"?

I'm curious why GoDaddy recommends "permanent forwarding"
when setting up a domain to be forwarded?

You can choose "temporary forwarding" or "permament forwarding"...
are there any benefits (SEO or otherwise) to selecting one over
the other?

    If you do a temporary redirect you run the risk of duplicate content problems with google. If the redirect is temporary the content on the landingpage will be indexed as content on the temporarily redirected domain.
