How to start IM that makes money?

Hi warrior guys!

I been reading several topics here and in other places, as watching youtube videos since a while ago, the conclusion of this learning journey is that an internet marketer needs 3 main elements:
1) to register with affiliate program
2) Mail campaign with autoresponder
3) good source of traffic

I focusing on these 3 parts, started traffic campaigns, but with out any results,
here, the capture page / landing pages was blamed, and when asked how to improve it, I was advised to provide free eBooks, or webinars etc,,

The question: to be successful in IM that you should provide eBooks, or any other free stuff in order to convince your audience to purchase what you promoting?
or have any other ways. or strategies to make sales?
Thank yo share your comments,

Is it really necessary to provide Ebooks? What if my niche site is not something that offers ebook? Do I still need to produce it?

This could not be further from the truth, in my opinion. There are many, many ways to make money online aside from this.

The only thing that you really need are:

    1. A group of people with a want/need (aka potential customers)
    2. A product or service that fills that want/need (can be an affiliate product or your own)
    3. A platform to offer your product/service to your customer (your website, upwork, fiverr, etc)

You don't need to give away an eBook to gain customers. But, if you're focus is on building a list then you should give away an incentive or lead magnet to entice people to join your list. However, it should be something quick and easy that provides value to your potential customers - not necessarily an eBook. If you're providing a long eBook to your potential customers, you're likely putting a roadblock up before you make a sale. Most people are lazy and won't read a long eBook, even when it's free. They may skim it.

So, things like ecommerce shops with coupon codes, short reports, infographics, etc can also be good lead magnets.

If you're just starting out, find a group of people with a want/need and figure out a way to provide a product/service to fill the want/need.

Lol, yes, l tried PPC for about 7 months, and Adwords was about the only one that converted.

I also tried Bing/Yahoo advertising and over the years, it Never made one sale!

Adwords is so expensive now that it is next to useless, and Google's TOS so complex that it takes a week to read and change everything.

As for squeeze pages, Adwords does not allow a squeeze page, not unless you create an entire site, and put it on the last page down the bottom, or in other words, next to useless.

I would personally advise you to stop beating a dead horse, and to go to hub sites with their own traffic.

Graphicriver, (or one of their other ones) Creative Market, and Fiverr.

    Good luck.

I think it is not really necessary to provide eBooks, but they can definitely help, especially if the books are well written and offer good content. eBooks are an awesome way to promote something you are trying to sell.

Preferably, the e-book is branded with your name and website. This ebook will:

    1. brand yourself as an authority
    2. brings traffic to your website
    3. entice people to opt in to your list

It does not need to be an ebook. It can be a cheat sheet, a video, a short e-course...as long as it provides value.

Providing a free incentive is optional but I think it depends heavily on where you are advertising from.

If you are advertising on Facebook, it might be a better idea to offer a free incentive because these leads are cold leads and you will need something to attract those who are scrolling through their feed. Thus, a freebie will definitely catch their attention.

If you are purchasing solo ads, I find that you do not need to provide an incentive to actually get people to opt in to your list.

At the end of the day, there is no hard and fast rule to what to do but you need to test your own campaigns. Different campaigns will have different results. What work for one marketer might not work for other marketers.

At the end of the day, the goal is to add people to your list.

After that, it is building a relationship.

    And finally closing the sale.

Keeping the buyers in your list to increase the lifetime value of your customer.

You can provide free stuff but to make money online that is not necessary.

You only need to provide something that people want and they are prepared to pay you for.

You need to deliver something that someone values more than what you are charging.

    Same as any business.

    Pretty simple really.

    best regards,

I would test using a cheat sheet or blueprint that provides actionable data against an ebook for your opt-in bribe.

What are you giving, to get money? Ask yourself that to start from the right space.

Offering a free eBook can help but I'd start with a Wordpress blog, offer free content thru this medium, and build your list through there.

There is NO difference between IM and brick & mortar.

It all comes down to traffic and conversions, that's it.

The steps to getting traffic and conversions are what this whole forum really exists for. It's what all the tools are for.

You can be an affiliate for a while and after you wake up and realize you've been building other peoples businesses for them you'll start to look at developing your own products.

The key to traffic is to build a list so that your traffic becomes an asset you own and can send anywhere. This applies to your own products or affiliate marketing.

I like to create free ebooks and distribute them here, on some of my lists and on social media.

I believe there is thread on one of the sections on this forum that talks about creating reports the easy way.

In my case I like to create reports using open office and then I turn those into pdf.

I usually create my reports from scratch (based upon my own experiences), but you can also get valuable info through PLR articles/ebooks that you can modify according to your specific needs.

    Want the secret success recipe?

Focus on becoming a marketer of Value rather than an exact money making method
There seems to be an exact strategy on paper but things don't ever work exactly like you think they will.

Or else everyone would be a success.

Another thing to think about is that there is a big world outside of MMO and selling products / services.

I've been promoting affiliate / CPA offers for over 16 years.

However, I do things quite differently than most.

I heavily promote PPL (pay per lead...lead generation) offers. This is because there is no credit card / purchase required to complete an offer. All a user has to do is fill out a form, so conversion rates are typically much higher compared to offers that require a sale to be made.

I favor offers that have a make, get or save money benefit to them, as they have overall worked the best. They also tend to have the greatest mass appeal (will be of interest to a large general audience), so the potential exists to produce high volume and they are fairly easy to cross promote on the back-end.

Some of the verticals (niches) I have done extremely well with are: education, insurance, loans, debt, credit, mortgage, assistance, discount offers, homeowner offers, etc...

The bulk of the offers that I promote pay $20-$40 per lead, but I also promote offers that pay more and less. You don't want to get too caught up on what an offer pays because how well it converts is just as important. For example, if you have an offer that pays $9, but if it converts at 2X or more of a $20 offer, then it will perform about the same or possibly better. At the same time, if you have an offer that pays $90 and it converts poorly, it may not even be worth promoting.

Bottom line: it's far easier to get someone fill out a short form than to get them to pull out their credit card and make a purchase. So why struggle with trying to sell this or that, when you can provide free information that users want/need and get paid well doing it.

I drive traffic by acquiring 3rd party email data, which is data that the users have shown an interest in a specific vertical(niche) and have given permission to receive messages from third parties. You get the opt-in record for every user and it's 100% can-spam compliant.

By acquiring data, I'm building assets that I then own and can market to over and over at very low cost. So I control and can drive traffic on-demand to the offers I'm promoting. Which is key to CPA / affiliate marketing success. However, 3rd party data will rarely be as responsive as a high-quality opt-in list you build yourself. So to compensate for this you want to work with higher volume. But it really doesn't matter because it is much cheaper and highly scalable compared to convention list building.

You don't want to just buy data blindly and you want to get it from reputable sources. You should always test a small, but adequate size sample and see how it performs. Then based on your test you will have a much better idea how quickly it will take to get break-even and what it is really worth to you.

The key to making it work long term is to always be collecting your opens / clickers, segmenting, and removing unresponsive users. That way over time you are building smaller, but more responsive lists that you should eventually be able to send less and make more with each mailing. Essentially you are converting the data from quantity to quality.

Basically, I monetize the data using PPL offers because they offer the path of least resistance to generating conversions($$$) and converting the data into cash producing assets. So it's really been the combination of the two, PPL and data acquisition that has worked so well for me.

Obviously, there is more to it, but done right it can be extremely profitable. Everyone that I know that is in the business and knows what they are doing, for the most part, does 6-7 figures. While that's a huge range, much comes down to one's ability to scale and effectively build / manage the infrastructure needed to scale.

    Something to think about.

    Thank yo share your comments,
    Your 'CONCLUSION' is wrong.

Your learning journey was a very narrow path. You didn't get much of a useful education, did you? (or else you wouldn't be here asking).

As others have said, you lack the fundamentals, the basics of all and any business, so let me give them to you.

MONEY exchanges hands via a TRANSACTION, a deal between 2 people or entities. The transaction is an agreed upon exchange of VALUE.

As some put it, what are you GIVING to GET?

IM transactions take place online, so there has to be some sort of a meeting place, unlike a brick and mortar store. YOU have to create an INTERSECTION.

This is somewhere online where your prospective customer meets your offer.
Could be a web site, email, or wherever your prospect goes.

You don't set up a custom butcher shop in a Vegan Facebook Group, eh?

To know where potential INTERSECTIONS are, you need to know who your customer is, we call that an AVATAR. Who is going to be interested in what you are offering?

If you create your own products and services, you can custom tailor it to a specific demographic, a certain group.

As an affiliate you have to find a group which Might be or might not be interested, a much bigger numbers game to play and compete against.

The INTERSECTION you create where your offer meets someone who might be interested in what you have is totally in your control, so the more you know the wants, needs, OR problems your visitor has, the better able you are to create a responsive site.

Giving stuff away is ONE model, not a very good one in my opinion to start with, unless you have a fully fleshed out bigger product, or back end or family of products.

Again, my OPINION, affiliate marketing today is one of the hardest routes to faster profits, just read this forum to see people GRIND away for years.

I think you should go back to your starting point and research more businesses, and get out of the cesspool of Internet Marketer gurus. There are NO rules, and we can see from your post, you haven't much business experiences and you are probably doomed to frustration if you continue down this path.

Before you start to apply these 3 elements you must know how to create a mental foundation first. That's the most important. You can't build a business without foundation the same if you would build a house without foundation.
