Where Do I Get Started With Video Marketing?

Hey Everyone,

I'm fairly new to this forum but from what I can tell there are a lot of experts in video marketing here so I had a question.

I'm looking to start some campaigns through video and I am wondering if there are any tools that I can use to rank my videos faster and more effectively on youtube (and Google). As well as any courses that I can look at that will augment my understanding of online marketing. Anything will help.

Thanks
Matthew Thomas

Don't know about any tools but you can do a search on this forum using the search feature above.

There are most likely some cats right here in the warrior classified ads with tools.

But nothing beats actually getting right into it...

Start creating multiple videos everyday that are value based and keep doing this consistently.

No tool will give you a shortcut.

Every one must pay their dues.

I'd watch a ton of top YouTube videos Matthew. Take notes. Easy way to see what the video pros are doing. Because the tools matter not if your energy and presentation lack; top videos have the presentation bit down cold. This helps me heaps with my FB Live and Periscope videos.

Bros, forget about tools helping rank or get quick fix.
    Look at the stats

"45% of people watch more than an hour of Facebook or YouTube videos a daily."

If you're on the outside of YouTube looking in, figuring out where to begin can feel like a daunting, obscure task. But the bottom line is this: before you start thinking about how to get more views, you need to be creating solid content.

Getting more views starts with quality content.

    RESEARCH TOPIC IDEAS
You need to thoroughly research video topic ideas. If you are looking for a place to start then start with:

    - Answering questions about your industry, business or products.
    - Creating how-to guides from start to finish.
    - Showing your audience how to use something.
    - Providing tips and tricks on how to do something better.
    - Creating a step by step tutorial, this always works super well with software!

Using Youtube and Google search bars to help populate ideas and questions.

Once you have an idea, you can check out the other videos that are ranking for the idea, and take note of how you can do it differently or something that they missed and you would love to see.

    Hope these help.

    Ches!!

These are great tips. And I agree, that there's no quick fix. You just have to make a lot of video. Over time, you'll get better at it and will start to get more attention.

all depends how much money you have,
what really works is to ask youtubers to link in their videos to yours and it will boost ranking immediately but its not an easy task.

you should share your video on social media or ask someone for shotout to get more visibility..

try to write SEO description below your video!
    use proper tags!

    Matt,

    Great question, man!

I think the key to getting your videos ranked is the excellence you will put into the production. I've developed video courses and online instruction for years, and you must have a logical approach to the message you are trying to convey.

Have you ever clicked on a YouTube video and had to wait for all sorts of nonsense like this:

"Hey guys, welcome to uhhhhhh...my video.....uhhhh today uhhhhhhhh we're going to uhhhhhh...learn how to use the ....uhhhhhh cropping tool in uhhhhh....Photoshop."

Just waiting 20 seconds to look at titles and listen to introductory music can drive people away.

So, depending on what type of video you are trying to make, you need to have a decent video editor to take out all extraneous words and distractions out of your video.

Just doing that alone will put you 80% of just about everyone else.

If you make a good , clear video that gets your message across and it's relevant to your target market, you will rank higher for your videos.

As I have said, I've made tons of these videos, and here's one I made recently if you would like to take a look.

    How to Use Venngage

I hope this helps you out.

    God Bless!

From my experienced, you need consistency in posting video. The titles, description and tag to be optimize. Focus on one niche one topic, and post it to different media other than youtube.

Create a website to link all the video back to your website, can be own blog or sales page.

For driving traffic best is to find other youtubers or video own who are on the SIMILAR NICHE BUT NOT SAME NICHE and is easier to request for exchange backlink. Is a win win for both of you

This post inspired me to type these keywords and see if the keywords of the video would match the Views. Boom. Entertaining and even Informative. (learning from overall set up more than what he says/sings) Warning...it loops.

If you're talking about Youtube, IMO the #1 thing is to come up with a system that allows you to make GOOD videos as quickly and cheaply as possible. There's a number of ways to make videos...

For those that don't like to be on screen, here's a good example of a slideshow-style video. This is the style of video I make the most, usually with PowerPoint.

Notice the stats: This video has been up less than a week, yet has almost 200,000 views, and it "only" has 24,000 subs, so it's getting a lot of views from people that aren't subs. These types of videos can be very popular, but it does take work and commitment.

They're easy to make and most of the effort is in the research to come up with interesting and useful information and tips.

I record the audio for each tip (and intro and outro) as individual audio (MP3) files, then import each into a separate PowerPoint slide and add a graphic. PPT will then automatically sync the timing of each slide to match the length of the individual audio file for that slide.

I try to keep each slide between 5 and 12 seconds. For the longer slides of 9-12 seconds or so, I sometimes use the Ken Burns effect, which is a simple slow pan/zoom to give a little motion to still images to make them more visually interesting to help keep viewers engaged.

I actually use fewer images than this video does, generally one video per point. I recognize a few of their images from Pixabay and I'll bet many of the others come from Pixabay or similar sites too.

For a few slides, to speed things up, and if I can't find a good image to use, I just use text and change the color of the background that acts as a "pattern interrupt" which helps keep viewers' interest.

Once you get your video making system down, then learn now to rank your videos and to optimize your views such as sending viewers to a landing page to build email lists. Youtube rewards people that upload regularly and make good videos people watch and will help promote the videos on these channels.

    AWESOME KURT THANKS.

I went to take a peek at the Channels "Popular Uploads" section and noticed a pattern.

The Videos that had a sort of "Cliffhanger' in the title like "You will not believe what happens when"...got the most views by far.

Helpful Info! Thanks for sharing Kurt. We should all take the ball and run with it and try to learn all we can from what is happening right in front of us.

Thanks Art...and you bring up a very good point about the titles. Ranking is only part of the equation, you also need people to click and getting people to click is usually improved by using good titles and thumbnails.

And one people check out your video, Youtube uses engagement more and more to determine your rank, especially total view time and viewer retention, which is how much of a video do people watch? 20%? 35%? 60?

If you have videos with these high engagement factors, Youtube will reward you with higher ranking, and even more importantly they will list your video as a "related" video on other video view pages.

Related videos is actually the #1 way of getting views on Youtube, not ranking as many people thing. And to be listed as a related video your video needs to have good engagement. Youtube wants to showcase videos they know people like.
