which famous ppl are you referring to?

    Tim Ferriss? for example?

None, he gets free traffic from his site, list and podcast

that being said, back in the day he would test different titles for his books with paid traffic. The title with the most clicks is the winner.

Just for your reference, the "top money makers" are paying the most per lead in order to crush the competition. Not the other around. Free Traffic is rarely scalable.

Last month, I spent around $55k on dedicated email drops, $15k on Google Adwords, $30k(ish) on CPL deals and about $20-25k on a guaranteed EPC contest for affiliates.

This question is so vague, you won't gain any insights from anyone's metrics. So let me know if you want any more details.

    Just as an added comment:

What you spend per a lead is completely based on what your lead value is after a specific duration of time. Agora, which is a massive publishing business, they pay up to and around $150/lead and they are constantly growing that specific business division.

If I spent $150/lead that would end my company in a matter of months. It's all relative.

    Also famous =/= profitable.

It depends on who you are referring to. I know some big time marketers who spend thousands on solo ads, banner ads, and the like to get the word out when they launch a new product.

I also know the majority of the so called IM gurus spread their products virally via. by other marketers doing the work for them by way of affiliate promotion for 50 or even 100% commission incentives.

I know that some "IM gurus" spend hundreds of thousands in advertising. I recently heard Neil Patel spends only on Youtube advertising around 100k per month..

Not really much! The gurus will likely to own a huge list of subscribers who they will promote their products to. This is how the average guru will make most of his sales.

    From observation only...

    > Whatever the cost to create the marketing material (videos, downloads, etc.)
    > Whatever they pay for services like high end autoresponders, hosting, etc.
    > Probably an average of about 50% of the sales price in affiliate/JV commissions

So, for the typical $2k guru launch, figure about $1k times number of sales.

After that, there's still fulfilment to consider.

Realistically, that "million dollar launch" may net the guru around $300k. Which, unless your name is Gates or Bezos, ain't exactly chump change. And 30% margin is something to work with.
