    If it's your own website - then not.

    If it's an affiliate website - then yes.

      if you want people to divert away from your website then sure, but if you'em to remain there then you sholdn't open it in a new window

        Most of the time I will open it in a new window. I want them to stay at my site. As I'm not guaranteed by the merchant that his/her product will convert.

          Not sure what you mean here as it does depend on whether you have the products/services available from your site or on a third party (affiliate) site.

          It is preferable to keep your visitors at your site and not give them the opportunity to wander. It's also the reason you shouldn't have Adsense on your site if you are trying to sell something.

          I suggest that you open your links in the same window if all the product information is available on your site. It can get confusing if you have many links opening new windows and it's easy enough to right click a link and "open in new window" if you specifically want to keep the original window open.
