How should I market an eBook on confidence building with the end goal to do in person coaching?

by timrodriguez 8 replies
Hi guys how's it going,

I've always been drawn to the self improvement community, and have actually improved my own confidence quite a bit over the last few years. I wrote an eBook outlining what I think are the keys to improving confidence, but I really would like to work with people one on one. I wanted to know how I should utilize the eBook to get geotargeted clients who I would meet face to face for coaching.

Should I use it as a free offer and use FB ads or Google ads to promote it? And then set up the website for "Call now for in person coaching in NY"

Or should I sell the eBook and start there (it's a lot of good content to give away for free). The goal though is to use it to build a business. I'm not going to get rich selling eBooks for $20.

What mode of marketing would be best?

Well inside your book you can direct people to your coaching .Inside book tell people for the best training of self help go to my training ,be creative with that .If you offer people enogh value on your book of course they will click the link on your book to check what you have to offer .You can promote your book on facebook ads ,youtube ads etc

    Hi Tim!

The one thing I've always found with the self improvement community is it's filled with influencers in micro-improvement communities like: financial self improvement, happiness, confidence in public speaking, weight loss / health management etc...

Your best bet is to find influencers in the industry that you know have a significant voice and more importantly, the audience that pays attention.

If you're looking to use your book as a lead magnet to pull in quantity --- outreach to influencers. It's not just about marketing anymore - but more to do with sales. You're not selling yourself, or people a product, you're selling people a better version of themselves.

Have you quoted anyone with significant influence in your book? That's a start.

"Hey, I've featured you in my latest book....XYZ. I really liked your approach with..... did you want to work on something together? I'd love to giveaway copies of my book to 100 people in your audience."

----- my point beyond the rambling above is that these influencers already have an audience. It's easier to convince one person to reach out to their audience for you than it is for you to reach out to their audience by yourself (you share a common audience type). ---------

Flipping my comments for a moment, you mentioned that your'e looking to amplify your reach in the local community with clients that you can meet face-to-face and deal directly with.

Your user profile suggests you're based in New York (which is PACKED).

So what kind of people in New York are seeking help with their own confidence? And specifically, what do they want to be confident about?

Is it confidence in dating, confidence in public speaking, confidence at work? Pick a targeted control group of high population, that are willing to travel to meet you in person. You'll find that if you're targeting a specific group - it's much easier to create digestible content for them that they can engage better with.

Once you've worked out your funnel with that audience, rinse and repeat with an 'alternate universe'.

Beyond that, you want to know who to establish as clients, that's your base for ad-targeting and the focus of your keyword optimisation when you're marketing your book. Host talks, connect with local influencers and businesses then relay them onto your coaching. If you already have people that you're coaching, use them as social proofing how well your business has thrived, but more importantly - the life changing factor that you've produced in people's lives. Remember, you're selling people a better version of themselves.

As far as the ads are concerned, you already have content from your book - use that. For example, if you have sections based on "How to assume confidence" >> repurpose that content on a custom landing page. Rinse and repeat across the different points I suggested above (confidence in dating, finance etc...).

Each ad should target their respective audience, that then points them to the respective landing page of interest. Dennis Yu from Blitzmetrics.com has a really REALLY good Facebook Ad Methodology that I would recommend you check out (lookup the dollar a day facebook ads).

Hope this helps you get some foundation sorted. The last thing I'll say is don't be afraid to test an idea when you're advertising or pitching an angle. If it's wrong, you know what not to do. If it's working well --- pump that angle *hard* and put your efforts into improving that angle.

Thank you very much Marcus. I appreciate the detailed reply. Now with regards to landing pages vs websites, I always was confused. I would link a FB ad on confidence with dating directly to a landing page that has an email optin form for the eBook. And then have a separate website that outlines the coaching? Or can the landing page just be one of the pages on the general website, so they'll see that the service is primarily an in person coaching, but they can download the eBook. I'm just trying to figure out how to format the whole thing. Thanks

Another option is to give your book away on Amazon Kindle. Put a link in the back that offers a giveaway for another ebook, short report, video series, etc. for visiting your website and signing up for your list.

You can then send helpful emails once a week where you mention your personal coaching services.

At some point you might want to expand the coaching to include online coaching through Skype. Then you're not limited to one area.

Actually this is a very good model - to lead with your ebook (or even a Free + Shipping printed version of your book) and then drive back-end sales of either personal coaching (as you mention) or even ideally online coaching (via membership site or 1:1 series) so you can expand your reach beyond your local area.

My experience selling different products into the selfhelp/personal improvement space is that they do better when you target at specific desires/transformations - self-confidence to X or self-confidence to get more Y.

I would dig in and pick the first problem space to target - create a custom version of your book as well as sales funnel (landing page + follow up sales campaign for coaching) & then target using FB ads aimed at your target including local area as one factor.

Regarding your question above about whether you need specific page selling your coaching - absolutely - that page needs to convert or else your advertising & targeting will not be sustainable (even if you sold a low-cost book).

What you are doing is called building of a sales funnel. Depending on price and the product, I can give you a structure I think that will work best

Dan Kennedy (author of The Ultimate Sales Letter and such books) had something you could emulate (not his system is https://gkic.com/blog/creativity/one...ative-clients/).

He/They post short and useful articles on marketing. So, you get good but not too detailed info for free...

In the sidebar of the site, they offer you an amazing FREE offer...

You sign up for that, and you get great content...

After a while, if you keep wanting great content, you can sign up for a membership or buy his books in book stores.

The membership leads a lot of people into buying various products, including very expensive seminars and coaching.

You could kind of do the same...

Free stuff on your site to get them interested in buying your book... Your book's job is to get them interested to attend some seminar of yours while giving them their money's worth. Your seminars' job is to get them their money's worth and interested in joining one of your 10-people max group coaching. The job of the group coaching, besides giving them value for their money, is to get a few of them interested in one-on-one coaching.

So, prices go up as you move up the chain, the amount of info or specificity increases too. Everyone ends up happy. If you deliver.

'S a good system. And, of course, your classes/seminars/group coachings are going to be broker down by something specific... As people have already said, people are not interested in getting confidence but in getting confidence to do something.

By the way, also look into David diAngelo's www.doubleyourdating.com.

If I were you, I'd sign up for both Kennedy and DiAngelo's freebie and see what they do next and next and next. diAngelo, by the way, is Eban Pagan's name in the dating coaching world.

Amazon Kindle Ebook be great for getting coaching clients and you can promote your ebook for 5 days for free on Amazon.

Promote the ebook by joining facebook groups about your subject and then do a professional cover using canva design and post your link to your ebook on Amazon.

Inside the ebook have a link to your professional website and do a free crash course video of say 3 vids of 5 mins each about your niche, then add links in the vids to your full coaching program.

Set up a landing page at your wordpress site with a free plugin so that you capture the email addresses of people interested in your course.

You can then send out 5 emails on automation over a week using MailChimp, it may take 5-7 contacts with the prospect for them to trust you and buy from you.

I did this with 5 of my ebooks with reasonable success, Amazon will let you promote your ebooks with very cheap PPC i pay .05 sometimes and you can see in the dashboard how many sales and clicks you get with your promotions.

Google "best forums your niche " and join the discussion and give good value and add a link back to your site so that you may get clients.

Find your niche conversations in reddit, steemit, google+, linkedin and join the discussion, avoid bad clients by thinking of a way of screening them out (skype call and if they are high maintenance screaming ... avoid, that's what I do in my business I want a quiet life).

Use Clickbank and Amazon to see what your competitors are offering and what they are charging for products and services.

Use a free survey form online to ask potential clients what they want, that will allow you to create a buyer avatar.

Finally do an Addicted Buying Audience Marketplace Evaluation using Google results, Survey results, Facebook Insight results, Steemit results etc,is there an addicted buying audience etc (lots of people in google searching for key phrases about your niche..).

    Good Luck
