Default Mindset Vs Tactics? Which One Motivates You?

I've always considered myself pretty motivated and not really in need of new mindset approaches (e.g. from gurus).

Instead, I've been into tactics, tactics, tactics! Does that sound like you?

However, a recent Tony Robbins video (even he's getting into IM now!) made 2 brilliant points:

[1] If your mind is totally committed, focused and disciplined towards your SPECIFIC goals, the WAY to your objectives will occur naturally anyway i.e. if your head or 'inner game' is sorted out, the tactics will fall into place.

[2] It takes GUTS to really believe in a vision of a great life. It's an easy copout to be pessimistic and use scepticism as a justification for not really trying.

Whether you agree with Tony's points or not, they are interesting food for thought and he's made me re-evaluate my mindset rather than being obsessed with tactics and tricks...

I believe that if you can see it, you can be it. No matter what that may be, you will be able to attain it if you can see it in your mind.

Once you see it, all you need to do is search for the tactics to make it happen.

But you will never be able to do that unless you can first see it.

Everything, no matter what it is, begins with a thought.

Tactics are tools to use to make the thought a reality.

Terry,
I understand where you are coming from. I feel the same way and was surprised to see Tony Robbins get into IM.
mbenton,
"You'll see it when you believe it" is a book written by Dr. Wayne Dyer many years ago.

I think that's absolutely true, what Tony Robbins says. My early days in marketing are pretty good proof of that.

I knew all of the tactics that could make me money. I knew all of the things I had to do and I could barely make a dime. The change in my income didn't happen because I learned something new or bought a new course. It happened because I finally set my mind to what I wanted and got serious about it.

That is true and now that you understand the tactics. It is time to get to work on the computer.

I believe that mindset is what tactics come out of. You need to have the right mindset before you start figuring out how to get to your goal. You're going to need to what your goal is and why you want to get there.

Commitment is a must. You have to fully commit yourself to a course of action. If you don't, it's much to easy to bail out at the first road bump. But, if you're fully committed, you won't let small setbacks or technical hurdles hold you back - and that's when you break through to success.

Well since you touched Tony Robbins name, I need to contribute with this thread.

His just one of the best Motivational Guys out there and I've found his teaching one of the bests.

Tony Robbins focus first of all in one word "OBJECTIVE". With out this you can easily get disappointed. The main purpose for this is that when you know for what you're working to, it's easier to view the evidences of your path.

The Secret says you just have to attract the tactics. The "how" to getting the success you have been looking for is not necessarily important. You just have to believe in a tactic and it will return what you have been giving it.

Great input here - thanks.

Hi Acrasial,

I saw the video from a link in a Frank Kern email (I'm on his list) but you can see the video here:

There is a simple answer to this - it's nothing new and it's as important as ever.......

Do you think the reason that people are fat is:

a) Because they don't know the tactics involved in being a healthy weight.

b) They know what to do but their mindset is such that they don't do what they know they should.

??

You can have all the tools in the world but unless you have a job to do and you take action to do it - they're irrelevant.

Mindset trumps tactics every day and twice on Sunday.

Absolutely the truth. It took me several years to figure this out or maybe it just took me years to believe it.

People are always looking for a better Intertnet marketing course or secret, but the truth is that any of the big guys could show their exact method and if you don't have the correct mindset you won't be successful with it.
