Stuck in the middle with 30K pageviews

I have a niche entertainment blog about movie and TV franchises and crossovers. It's also a personal blog about shows I watch and follow, renewals and the media business in general.

I want to take it to the next level and make some money from it. Currently I am getting 500-2000 pageviews a month with 30,000 pageviews in total since September 2016. It'd be great to hit 50K in my first year! I know it's not amazing traffic but it's going a lot better than I thought it would and the only marketing I am using is reddit. I don't have a huge social media following whatsoever.

I've tried a few affiliate programs, but I don't think I'm big enough yet. Amazon locked me out and adsense is pretty much useless at this point. I created a rough goal plan for the next three years. I want to double my traffic next year and hopefully make some money from the site. By 2020 I hope to be supplementing my income with the blog and doing it full time as a normal news site with maybe a few employees and get recognized in the industry.

Some cool stuff that has happened is that one of my pages got over 10,000 pageviews by getting backlinked to a supernatural fan page and a lot of my spinoff theories are the first page or second page of google depending on proper keywords.

The problem I have is that I have spikes here and there, but nobody stays around until I post again about some crazy theory I have about a TV show. (Very original content.) I might have 20-40 actual people who stay around and read the site daily due to social communities I belong to. According to Google Analytics most of those people are in NY, Cali, or Canada which is a good sign for an entertainment news site. *People in the industry might have read it.*

The magic money making number, which I want to see in 2020, seems to be 100K pageviews per month but there was only one month out of 12 where I hit 10K pageviews. Not much is out there on what I should be doing NOW to increase my following at this young stage. Since most of that advice is locked out to newer sites. I can't even get press passes to big events yet.

Any suggestions on where to go from here is much appreciated.
