"I don't think so". I haven't even reviewed this person's bid yet, nor have I seen their profile or samples, or anything else, and this is my first impression... what's yours?!

I hadn't even spoken to this person (nor heard of them) before...so on that note, this was sure a strange email- because they were speaking as if I had... reminds me of the emailing tactic, to head all emails with RE: to make people think you have spoken before, and trust to open it.

wow this is not a bad tatic for the open rate => but the conversion rate is bad cause they have spam you .

Maybe if they have offer something for free that is valueable you might have bite on there offer.

This approach makes me go backwards, same with those who try to sell to me on my doorstep!

I think it's because their English isn't too good is why you feel the way you do.

If they had said something more along the lines of:

    Hello,

We would just take a moment to introduce ourselves to you. We would like to be your source for <whatever they are providing.> We think the best way for you to see if we could mutually benefit each other is to check out our portfolio located here:

We are new to this site, but we are eager to earn your trust and do some work for you.

    Thanks for you time,

hahah no- I work with people whose english is absolutely terrible at times- I hardly ever get the chance to work with people whose mother tongue is english BTW.

So I don't think its any sort of discrimination here- but it's just the way they guy said ..."do you think we are bad!? I dont think so!"

it was just really odd, as I never even said anything about them and here he is telling me that even if I think he was bad, he wouldn't agree...!?

I had also never spoken to this person before receiving this mail, nor had I even heard of them-so I just found that to be harnessing quite a big ego.

but certainly, they could have said something like what you wrote- but instead they chose to go with the cocky/egotistical approach. just kindof strange.

I didn't mean that you were discriminating against them because of their bad English. What I was trying to say is that I don't think they meant to come off as cocky.

I think the poor phrasing was due to the fact they aren't fluent in English. (I could be wrong about this, it could have been their intention, to come off cocky.) I think they were just trying to say something like:

"After looking at our portfolio, we don't think you'll question the quality of our work."

You know what I mean? I just think it came out unintended because of their lack of English skills.

I could write volumes about other situations where cocky/egotistical does pay off, LOL, but I do know in marketing/sales it can have a negative impact.

When you market to people who already market- it doesn't quite work the same way.

When you market to people who do not market- lol...it has the right kind of effect, but I think what you said was what they had meant- but I think this person is also Indian- sounds like it- and if that is the case, there are more english speakers in India than Usa, Canada, and UK combined!

Thus- I really doubt that they could have messed up that badly- when I can talk to people from India, and they are able to get their point accross quite easily- even if they struggle with english...lol

I think it really was just an ego thing. LOL maybe I should just ask them!? haahaha.
