What I would do if I was starting over

Often times I get asked what I would do if I were to start over - of course with no money, no list, or anything.

So buckle up because this could get long.

1 - Get a job

Got to keep the bills paid right? What better way to do that then to get a job - more so I would work the night shift so I can take the morning to work on my business (more on that later)

2 - Sell anything that doesn't generate revenue on eBay or Craigslist

I'm talking TVs, computers, laptops, game consoles, cell phone, text books, I would just go around the house selling pretty much everything I don't need.

3 - Garage sale arbitrage

Go to garage sales and buy up stuff with the extra money I'm making from eBay and the new jobbie job and repeat #2.

4 - Once I have about 200 green ones I would start up and learn how to use a WordPress site to build my list and promoting other peoples products

Got to learn how to build a site right?

5 - Start meeting up with local businesses and start offering them website building services.

Start small to get my feet wet, and then start going big with the pricing - outsourcing when I have too many clients.

6 - Leverage my personal site that I originally started (and should by now getting results with) to get bigger clients and charge more - outsourcing the client getting process as well or run a few FB ads.

7 - By the time I get to this step I should have a pretty decent sized email list - where I would have been emailing them daily to other peoples products - eventually getting to the point where I can dump the client work and just do email marketing.

The crazy thing is... I've actually done this.

A few years ago - and let me tell you when you see your income jump from like 400 bucks to about 2k a month in a month - you know you are working your a$$ off.

No excuses at all warriors - just straight to the point get to freakin' work.

    Isaiah,

Excellent. To me, the point is, you didn't spend your time on a forum whining that life is unfair, that everyone is out to scam you, or that IM is hoax.

Roll up your sleeves and do whatever you have to in order to turn things around.

    Thanks, Steve

    Exactly.

No sense in wasting time telling people a life story.

Just get up and get things done.

    Good tips!

When I was first starting out I did a lot of article writing to get extra cash to afford hosting, autoresponder, solo ads, etc.

    Cheers,

#1 is beyond key for anyone who simply feels too terrified to ride out the bumpy years. Get a job guys! I offer this advice to 9 out of 10 struggling Warriors, desperate to earn money to pay bills.

I did the opposite; devoted all my energy to getting my blogging bit going. Led to nightmares but it made me the guy I am today. BUT...unless you are ready for some chaotic things to happen, and some dicey situations aka having 4 cents and being 70 g's in debt LOL, get a job, pay bills and build your biz from an abundant space.

      Crazy.

Checking FB is not being productive or creative - hell I wouldn't even call that work.

Tell me how creative will you be when you have ZERO income coming in and bills just piling up.

The best bet would be to take care of the initial thing that would hold you back - sure you can get creative with the job you get but if you had nothing you need an income not some creative time..

The advice I gave has helped a lot of people - but most get caught in the illusion that they can ONLY rely in online income to get them out of a sticky situation.

Guess some really don't want to do the "work"

I can think of no better reason for you to start your own enterprise than to show the world that you can do better than those who came before you.

Choose to lead, not follow. Nothing is more challenging or more fulfilling than running a business, a division or a corporation. Many of us live for that.

If that describes you, then I have copious amounts of humility and empathy for you. Do you take that challenge?

I couldn't agree with you more. There are many ways to make money online but they all have one thing in common - hard work. There's no such thing as a free meal.

Thanks for sharing such a great info.
I think we have to focus on our goal. If I really love something, enjoy something, I will continue my work until I reach my goal.
I want to help people by sharing my knowledge, I want to build my authority and increase my trust level.
You have many options to make money online. Select which one is best for you. Then focus and do hard work. I think hard work and patience are the most important factors to reach your goal.

      Exactly.

Can't really get anywhere if you are worried about how you are going to keep your belly full.

If only most newbies actually took the damn advice.

I would do something that is very simple. I would not do what all the so called experts are telling you to do.

I would start subscribing to their top marketers lists and start copying what they do.

I would study their email headlines, their ad copy, see what products they are promoting, etc...

In short...Do what they do and not what they tell you to do!

Great list OP. My dad makes quite a bit of money going to house clearance sales/auctions and buying boxes of mystery stuff. He then sells the things individually. The individual items collectively fetch way more money than a whole box of stuff at auction.

To do this you just need lots of spare time and somewhere to store the stuff.
