Looking for email help

Hi
I'm looking to create a email list, keep looking at different people teaching how to do it and supplying tools to help like squeeze pages etc, but to be honest people are charging large sums to teach you.
Im not running down these people because I'm sure they are good value but to be honest I've had my fingers burnt before so I'm a bit cautious to be paying out large sums of money.
Does anyone know or could help me with getting started building my own email list or suggest a course

Thanks

Brett

    Hi,
    Here's the real deal.

If you're looking for a mentor and a guys cheap, ask yourself why?

If he's asking chump change, it's 99% that you're talking to a chump.

If you want to learn from a millionaire, do you think he's going to teach you for peanuts.

Not being harsh, just keeping it real.

There's enough free stuff on the internet to get you to understand how it works.

Do more research into whatever part you don't get, but there are not that many and not hard to understand/create.
    1. Sign up with mailchimp or aweber or some other such company and some product seller
    2. Create optin form
    2. Create bribe for optin form
    3. create email sequence, make sure to include links to whatever you choose to promote
    4. create list / campaign in mailchimp or aweber
    5. upload email sequence and set delivery triggers (they sign up, they get the thank you message and link to download; they download, they get another thank you and some other content, etc.)
    6. Place optin form on internet in front of people who're likely to be interested both in your bribe and whatever you're selling.
    7. Count your money.
    7. Tweek messages, subject lines, monetization.
    8. Count your money.

The rest is like any marketing
    1. Choose hungry market (here learn about niches and subniches... It's harder to go and after and get weight loss people; easier to go after and get brides to be who're looking to lose 30 lbs by the time of the wedding so they can fit into the darn dress or 50+ year old men who want to lose 60 lbs of fat and gain 20 of muscle because they're afraid of the HEART ATTACK.
    2. Understand hungry market needs and wants (that means what makes them tick, how old they are, gender, education, etc. and how they usually buy whatever they buy (online, offline; social media users or not, etc.)
    3. Locate 'food' hungry market is after. It could be something on amazon.com or clickbank or a physical product direct from the product maker. Here you need to learn not only the type of product that you should promote but to the best seller (some people who use affiliates also sell directly, their sale page has optins; people you send there can optin and buy later, from something in the optin-sequence and you make no money.)

You can learn a lot by simply watching what others do. So you could subscribe to marketers lists in the same niche.

If you will be promoting affiliate / CPA offers, don't sign up to MailChimp as they don't allow them.

As far as niches go, there is a big world outside of MMO and selling products / services.

I heavily promote PPL (pay per lead...lead generation) offers. his is because there is no credit card / purchase required to complete an offer. All a user has to do is fill out a form, so conversion rates are typically much higher compared to offers that require a sale to be made.

I favor offers that have a make, get or save money benefit to them, as they have overall worked the best. They also tend to have the greatest mass appeal (will be of interest to a large general audience), so the potential exists to produce high volume.

Some of the verticals (niches) I have done extremely well with are: education, insurance, loans, debt, credit, mortgage, assistance, discount offers, homeowner offers, etc...

The bulk of the offers that I promote pay $20-$40 per lead, but I also promote offers that pay more and less. You don't want to get too caught up on what an offer pays because how well it converts is just as important. For example, if you have an offer that pays $9, but if it converts at 2X or more of a $20 offer, then it will perform about the same or possibly better. At the same time, if you have an offer that pays $90 and it converts poorly, it may not even be worth promoting.

Often you could make just as much money generating leads over selling a product / service depending on what the commission is, without all the headaches of trying to make sales.

Bottom line is that it's far easier to get someone fill out a short form than to get them to pull out their credit card and make a purchase. So why struggle with trying to sell this or that, when you can provide free information that users want/need and get paid well doing it.

I don't think that most marketers realize that the online lead generation industry is huge...billions of dollars. Everyone that I know that is in the business and knows what they are doing, for the most part, does 6-7 figures. While that's a huge range, much comes down to one's ability to scale and effectively build / manage the infrastructure needed to scale.

    Something to consider.

Good insight Diablo and great advice. I completely agree with your suggestion of sign up and learn what the top marketers in a field are doing. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and one thing you can be absolutely sure of...the top guys have tested the #### out of their system.

Yes there is free stuff online.

    But...

I paid $500 for course (from a 'multiple' 7 figure affiliate marketer).

It was well worth the money!

    This was back in 2012.

Don't ever be afraid to invest in your education.

I have spent thousands already in online education.

    I will spend thousands more!

Not all courses will be up to par but if you learn what to look for over time, you will be able to make better choices as to which ones you should buy.

Create helpful posts specifically geared to your 1 ideal customer. Use a pop up to boost your subscriber base. Guest post on top blogs from your niche. Comment on top blogs from your niche. Save buying your domain, all free if you are pinching pennies All work nicely too, for me, as I've been at it for a minute. Although recently, with some serious guest posting, I doubled my list in a month.

As for those sky high rates, successful marketers became successful for a reason I charge healthy consulting rates and course prices myself because I built my name up....and hey, it is just money, anyway. Means of exchange, nothing more.

    The problem is your MISCONCEPTION

The System is clear, and free to learn.

Opt in page, freebie, create a list, and nurture leads and market them.

    BUT

Like this is not so easy to understand. You have to go in DEEP. And for going in deep you have to take a lot of TIME and spend some money.

I mean, you have to choose an autoresponder suitable for your needs.

You have to buy some CMS to build your opt in pages like leadpages or a plugin like Optimizepress.

You have to nurture your leads, provide good stuff for them, and choose wisely the tools and product to promote to them, and test them before.

    AND

Learn how to make ads or seo. and it's not "free".

Unless you have hundreds of years to study it's better to find a program.

Good morning Brett, in our experience it is a better ROI to drive traffic to a sales page rather than a squeeze page. We have always targeted the impulse purchase market for our clients as it converts better. Best regards, Kathleen
