Of course I can remember lots of forum sites that have gone away. Some have switched to mobile friendly blogs and others have just dried up all together.

To be honest, when myspace appeared, I had an account and all, but I still insisted on following dozens of forums. I have a long list that I still like to visit, but the ones that have disappeared would be an even longer list .

I think people like the real time action you get on social media. But personally I enjoy forums way more than I care for facebook. About five years ago, I used facebook A LOT, now though it's hardly ever.

The first forum I ever joined was movie sharing site and that was about 13 years ago! They are long gone.

Forums were and are popular if forum members join to serve and assist others. The activity on boards and value being shared is all about the users, and their willingness to help other users.

I still prefer forums, one thing social media groups can't do is structure the topic of discussion into handy sections the way forums do.

One time I made a post here taking the position that Warriors should treat this forum more like a social platform and grow their friends etc but now theyve removed the friend feature

      Why?

IMO, they each serve a different purpose and there is really no benefit to diluting one or the other - when you do that you take away the advantages that each has. There is certainly a place and need for both platforms and having the alternative to choose when you want to engage with each one is nice. Besides, the market will decide when it's time to make a change.

Yes, they were more popular because there were fewer options.

That being said, I rarely interact on social media, but am quite active on several forums.

I think forums give the opportunity for a better community than social media where you just post content and maybe get a few replies with a whole lot less interaction.

On forums, you kind of get to know some of the longer standing members.

I do believe so, I do feel it easier to follow the posts and threads started on a forum than on social media. I find social media to distract you sometimes from the most important things (especially if you're trying to make an income online )...

I'm just spending around 10 minutes per day on dialog gatherings, however from this little exertion, I have effectively figured out how to drive activity from discussions each and every day to my blog. It's all since I have an arrangement, and I stick to it. It's tied in with including quality substance, but on the other hand it's around 10 unique things.

Forums might not be as popular as they once were, but I still prefer them to social media. It's not unusual to find a Facebook group with 200k people having less meaningful engagment than a forum with 5k people. The audience in forums is by far better superior to that in social media platforms.

Forums are still extremely popular and niche targeted. Think of Social media as an addition, not a replacement.

  • Yes, forums were popular, and still are today. If members are actively participating, you can get a lot from forums- information, assistance, networks, even friends, etc.

A lot of forums have dried up yes but not this one.

Social media platforms have become quite a marketing frenzy at times but there is so much noise as so many people are trying so hard to get noticed.

You can find some good helpful content on Facebook but sometimes you will really have to dig for it or know who you should be following.

Forum marketing (Warrior) is more of an in depth 'nuts and bolts' theme where the many can ask good questions and actually get them answered in record time.

This Warrior forum is like a place where you can get great mentorship without having a proper mentor who actually cares about your success (I have been there).

    And lastly...

You can get exposure (and credibility here) if you do what Ryan B said above...

Add real value to each and every conversation.

I have made videos on YouTube where people have clicked through and watched because some of them seen me here first.
