Default Please Add Salt When Taking Advice...

Even on the Warrior forum the advice you get from some of the posters can be incredibly whiffy!!

There are some eejits who could get you if not thrown somewhere dark and nasty into some serious trouble.

I've just been reading some of the responses to this with some disbelief.

www.warriorforum.com/main-internet-marketing-discussion-forum/128271-what-should-i-do-these-80000-email-addresses.html

If you're asking for advice, please make sure you do your due diligence, it pays off in the end, better still make sure it's from those whom you are convinced know what they are talking about...

Edit
I'm not even going to say what I think about someone who is numpty enough to buy an email list except to say I'm selling the London Eye at a rock bottom price if you're interested

Thanks for that Kymi,

I was thinking something similar about 5 minutes ago while reading a different thread.

There are a lot of people here who will say things they've heard like they're facts, and come up with really poor ideas for what other people should do in their business.

While this forum is a great place to bounce ideas - it's NOT somewhere to get legal advice or to blindly take advice you don't understand the implications of.

Kim, I'm with you 100% on this.

Some of the advice I have seen, especially on what to do with leads, is
downright frightening.

Lists are bought and sold daily. CNN, ESPN, NYT etc etc all buy and sell lists. If it didn't work then they wouldn't do it. Is it smart for a novice to do it? No not really unless they are well informed.
It says more to the lack of knowledge from the people who are spouting up against it blindly with no more argument then "It's bad m'kay".

Practices like buying emails hurt those of us that try to build legitimate email list . Anyone that has took the time to set up a capture page with something of value being given, continued to give quality during the series , Even refused to sell because it was too soon, Takes this kind of thing personal.

I know all who gave advice as how to monetize this bought list could have thought they were doing the guy a favor . In the eyes of most serious "long haul" marketers , they lost a lot of credibility .

This is not advice , it is an opinion. It can be taken with a grain of salt . This is not Vegas . What happens on the internet takes a long time to go away ... if ever .

Hi Spank

I'm aware lists are bought and sold daily, (I get enough spam phone calls and letters to know that my details belong to a host of people and busineses etc).

I'm not talking about big corporations etc who buy and sell, they know what they are doing. I'm talking about someone who would buy a massive email list then ask other folk what to do with it,

The potential for someone to get themselves into a heap of trouble in this scenerio is huge especially when they are getting a heap of bad advice from others who have no idea what they are talking about. You sound as though you do so I'd imagine you are the exception that proves the rule.

Kim

BTW I love your sig lol

Kim,

You know what? That's cool.

You managed to get eejits, whiffy AND numpty into ONE post...without a single question.

Are you training these guys?

Are you the IM-Whisperer, Kim?

Another thing to watch out for...

Some of your fellow Warriors have an odd sense of humor, and sometimes "advice" that is meant to sound humorous or ironic comes off sounding like a genuine suggestion.

Such was one post in the thread referenced, which suggested becoming an agent for an ED pill and spamming the list with that. At least I hope it was meant as humor...

Kim,

"eejits" I haven't heard that term in years. My mom used to say that once in a while. I never did know what it meant until I said it outloud once.

Yah!!! I also observe that some of the advice here is not accurate to the subject or matter. But like Andy’s it’s NOT somewhere to get legal advice. But other than that you can still get a lot of information and ideas here in WF.

Don't listen to Kim!

Following sensible advice usually means you have to get off your backside and do some work.

( Better put in a few smilies so Harvey doesn't get me named and banned).

haha, I got advice once from a fellow warrior which resulted in one of my Wordpress blogs blowing up. That was a long time ago and have learned the lesson since.

People do mean well of course, but you're right, be sure to check it out before taking drastic action. Some also may throw you off the scent when it comes to finding decent niches.
