I read a thread here awhile back... not too long ago, probably less than a month ago. It gave instructions on how to setup a bookmark that when clicked would automatically ping your blog to either pingler or pingomatic. Now for the life of me I cant seem to find this little trick. My operating system crashed and I had to do a full reinstall and I lost part of the product I was creating which sucks... but thats life.. I had to reinstall everything and I'm really missing this bookmark trick. I would like to re-implement this little trick though. If anyone can find that thread or simply tell me how it is done it would be greatly appreciated! |

You can search for a service that when you input the url into it, would automatically ping all that is there to ping on the internet. Example: pingoat.

thanks a lot, I figured several other people would find this handy as well. Really saves time if you ever need to ping multiple pages rather quickly, as it can become time consuming.

An easy way to do this, and no need to install plugins etc, is to use some simple javascript.. Its simple, just do the following : 1. Open Firefox. 2. Click on the Bookmarks menu. 3. Click on the "Organize Bookmarks" menu item. 4. Select where you are going to put the bookmark, I put it on the bookmark toolbar. 5. Right Click on the right hand pane, someplace where there are no bookmarks, and select "New Bookmark" from the popup menu. 6. Set the name of the bookmark to something useful like "Ping this page". 7. In the location field insert the following code : javascript:location.href='http://pingomatic.com/ping/?title='+encodeURIComponent(document.title)+'&blog url='+encodeURIComponent(location.href)+'&chk_webl ogscom=on&chk_blogs=on&chk_technorati=on&chk_feedb urner=on&chk_syndic8=on&chk_newsgator=on&chk_myyah oo=on&chk_pubsubcom=on&chk_blogdigger=on&chk_blogr olling=on&chk_blogstreet=on&chk_moreover=on&chk_we blogalot=on&chk_icerocket=on&chk_newsisfree=on&chk _topicexchange=on&chk_google=on&chk_tailrank=on&ch k_bloglines=on&chk_aiderss=on&chk_skygrid=on&chk_a udioweblogs=on&chk_rubhub=on&chk_geourl=on&chk_a2b =on&chk_blogshares=on' Make sure its all on one line and no line breaks in it.. I would suggest pasting it into Notepad, then turn Wrap OFF, and make sure its all one long line. Then paste into the new bookmark form and Press OK You are done!! To use, simply navigate to the page you want to ping, then click on your new bookmark and its done.. Pingomatic has been called with your new bookmark.. This is a great technique to use when making profiles with your links in them. Simply make the profile, and then click the bookmark. Its that simple Hope this helps Bruce |

Are you really using Firefox 3.7!! The download page only shows 3.5.3 as the latest! I'm using the latest version, and the code snippet I posted above works perfectly! Take care Bruce |
