The only directory who may have a problem with duplicate content is Ezine Articles. What you could do is post it and get it listed there first and once it's accepted there then post it to other directories.

However, I really don't see the point. Why not just write a great article and post it on your own blog and do some SEO & share it on social media? You'll get far better results doing that than if you posted it to 100 different article directories (if you can even find that many in existence anymore - most of the good ones are long gone).

You'll be lucky to get 1 or 2 clicks from the article, it most likely won't even get listed on Google at all, and if it does, it will be buried so far down hardly anyone will see it.

I have well over 100 articles listed on Ezine Articles (from "back in the day") and I think I got a grand total of 2 or 3 clicks from them last month.

Hey, knock yourself out if you want. I'm just saying it's probably a waste of your time and effort.

totally agree, 1 or 2 clicks is not worst all these affort

but i am not saying article directory is dead or not working any more.

just don't put all your focus on this one, manage some time beside of article writing and submitting, try to do some social networking or even guest blogging, if your current situation is allowed, go for paid service.

as old says, "don't put all eggs into one basket"

That's pretty much what I'm saying.

The only one worth posting in nowadays is Ezine Articles, and even that is a waste of time IMO.

I suppose you could get lucky if someone decided to pick your article up from there and post it on their website, but then most of the time people who do that remove your links anyway. Then you've got to wonder about the quality of a website that posts duplicate content from article directories.

I suppose you might be able to squeeze a few clicks a month out of it if you are really lucky, but it really isn't worth it.

If you are going to take the time to produce unique content, then you should post it on your own web property and do some SEO. At least then you will have a chance at some organic search engine traffic.

Article directories really don't have much to offer nowadays. I guess if you want to rewrite the article and post it on some directories for some backlinks you could do that, except that most of them insert "nofollow" tags on your links.

Maybe somebody can elighten me, but I see absolute no reason why anyone would put in their time to produce a piece of content and then post it to an article directory in 2017.

        Maybe in 2007...

I'd add that having that article appear as a guest post on a relevant site with a good audience could be even more beneficial than posting it to your own site. Especially if you are starting out and get little traffic outside of yourself, your mom and your cat.

Google will tell you that there are still hundreds or thousands of "article directories" out there, but I'd wager that most of them haven't seen a visitor (human, as opposed to autoposting bots) since they were created.

For a wannabe article writer, or someone seeking syndication, a portfolio on EZA can still be useful. Not for direct traffic, or even random syndication, but for demonstrating that you are capable of producing content that will pass their editorial review.

One could also use it to promote their writing to actual newsletter publishers, folks not worried about duplicate content because the article will never appear on a page meant to rank in search. The keyword here is 'promote'.

      This. ^

EZA always has been and still is quite a formidable marketing tool when promoting your portfolio rather than mindlessly submitting articles. Even an "Expert" designation can go a long way in getting your article(s) accepted in just about any online/offline publication.

Perhaps the most under-utilized features of EZA are the author profile, achievement recognition "badges", author RSS feed, and author "alerts" (publisher is notified whenever a new article is published by the author). These may seem to be minor details, but this kind of differentiation can make a big difference in crowded niches.

Many of the articles I submitted a decade or more ago are still pulling in traffic as syndication partners see them in my portfolios from current article queries, RSS feeds, email notifications from EZA, and increasing esteemed status with the addition of achievement badges.

Some site does not allow redundancy. When you will post, the Article will be under review/ pending to publish. the site authority will check your article & their site rules. If match, then they will publish you Article. Thanks

Generally, wide article distribution in relevant online/offline publications can result in the ancillary benefit of ranking well in the search engines. Most offline publications these days have online editions or components.

However, this has never been the focus nor intent of my articles. Getting actionable information in front of your targeted audience before they even begin searching for it is the ultimate in having the competitor advantage.

  • I wouldn't use article directories for traffic. Instead why not guest post on blogs that are looking for writers to write some good articles for them. Some are free and some might even pay you. I have a list of over 300 blogs you can check out and if you want the list, I'd be happy to give it to you. It is in an excel spreadsheet.
