I have been playing around with the Twitter API alot lately and set up a sample page with a form that let's a Twitter user send a re-tweet to get a free copy of a report. Is anybody else using this technique with any effectiveness? I've only had a few but this is somewhat of an experiment. |

I haven't really tried this but I've seen stuff like this around. I think it has a good potential, because it's a viral kinda thing. If you have an exciting product, report etc to offer then it could definitely work. Thanks, Adam |

Its worth whatever a re-tweet X the amount of people who go along with it. My dad funnily enough came up with a system I recently used to get well over 500 people to re-tweet a message for me. 0 sales, 0 leads and it was re-tweeted hundreds of thousands of times. Twitter is sh*t. If someone has proof I'm wrong please explain but I've messaged hundreds of thousands and I found it useless. It's simply the wrong crowd. Yes I've made friends and yes I've given stuff away but as far as I'm concerned thats all twitter is any use for. Whenever I see something saying twitter is great, right behind it I see an aff-link |

@Colin - Twitter actually works very well on a local level. Should experiment with that for your traffic classes. My local accountant uses it for her clients and swears by it now. @723 - yeah, I've done a couple of RT promos. We gave away an Iphone just recently and got 15,000 followers or something through it. Mostly useless traffic though, so I wouldn't be tempted to do it again very soon. |

So far, Im finding that I'm getting good results for a Twitter based product which makes sense. I tried a test campaign offering up a report on how to get more followers, which is a hot topic at the moment on Twitter. I've pulled some subscribers from it so we'll see if it becomes useful. |

I have done okay with different things on it. If you can work out how to get them from Twitter onto your email list, that's got to be the thing to do. I'm actually running a live betting service using it at the moment with 100 or so paying subscribers and that's cool. It's a different kind of thing to the way most are using it though. I actually thought T was VERY responsive from about last August through to about May or so this year, but then I think it's just become too spammy now. I'd be seriously surprised if it's going to last in the format it's in now. I just can't see it. |
