What are the typical tasks done by a Virtual Assistant on freelance sites

I konw the jobs vary by what the freelancers offer, but are there typical tasks associated with this job title?

    Hi! The task of being a virtual assistant varies depending on your skill set. It could also depend on what your client needs. You're generally providing services while working remotely from home. A VA could do customer service, technical, administrative or creative work. What I'm doing mostly is customer service work like email and chat support but I'm also tasked to do some forum discussions.

      Where can I find job requirements of clients requiring the services of a VA. I can then see if I have what it takes and offer what they need. What kind of rates do they generally tend to offer? I guess it will vary by requirements, the proficiency of the VA. But since I will be starting out, what kind of rates are likely? I simply cannot match the rates offered by guys in the Phillipines, India, and places like that. How do I market myself as a VA who could command higher rates? I am in a developed country, and simply cannot match the competitive rates on offer from the said countries.

      I don't want to have to provide live service e.g. customer chat which require working specific hours, I want to be hired on full time basis who gets paid weekly or monthly upfront and then does x amount of work on a flexible arrangement.

        Its called research and you look on Google and Merchants such as JV Zoo and Warrior Plus for products to buy about this niche there are some very good ones out there

    I have gone through a few profiles of VAs since I last posted. One of the ones that crops up regularly is the work of research, among other things. Does research here mean researching topics on the internet and then providing the client with notes. I am able to quite a few things. I can do research (if that's what it is), I am quite handy with Excel, pretty competent with Wordpress, keyword research, and I will also be able to answer emails, some data mining, and so on.
