Now, we're trying to figure out what did it... All I did was bookmark his site with stumbleupon, clipmarks, & onlywire. I am thinking it was stumbleupon. I used the category 'internet tools'. ![]() Leading to a question... was there a time when you got incredible traffic? what did you do to get it? |

Install Google Analytics to the site and see where the traffic is coming from. I've gotten a few thousands visits on a couple different days from Stumbleupon, but the traffic is usually pretty low quality and doesn't convert well. The highest quality traffic as far as conversions go usually comes from search engines, and places where people area looking to buy things, like Ebay. |

It was SU for sure. The quality of the traffic is fine if you know how to harness it properly. |

I am the friend in question. I got 201 visits to my site in just 30 minutes. According to site meter, all the traffic is from stumbledupon. Unfortunately it has a very high bounce rate and surprisely no sales. I normally make at least 1 sale with 20 visits per day. Though I enjoyed the traffic but the fact that it amounted to nothing means it is probably not good enough. |

Yups, me too have got more visitors from stumble upon on the day which I hve done bookmark, but I did not get more decent traffic as you all, but got some clicks.... That means, SU is giving just traffic - but not decent/target traffic as Search engines do...

Do you just focus on a single product, or are promoting allot of products like I am. I am taking the shotgun approach and hoping one sticks, but my strategy is to build backlinks for variety of keywords, which I firmly believe will help me in the long term rank for more competitive terms. In any case, thank you for sharing. | |

Once I got 2,000 hits to my blog in a single day. Had no idea where it came from until I looked at Mint. The traffic was from stumbleupon; to a post I had bookmarked that was a list of something. However, none of them converted. These hits are good to boost your traffic stats but they suck when it comes to conversion! |

I agree Ninja, This is certainly the case with stumbleupon and I have received allot of traffic from them. Looking at my google analytics stats is says about 54% of my traffic is from the search engines, 30% is direct traffic and 17 % is referring sites...thought I don't know what the heck referring sites really mean? |

Yes stumbleupon is a great and easy way to get big traffic to your site instantly. Don't worry bout the quality of visitors either - there is nothing wrong with it if you market your site correctly. John Burton |
