How similar are your articles within the same niche?

I just started out with article marketing and have submitted about 17 articles so far. The only thing is all of my articles revolve around fixing my niche's problem, so they all pretty much contain the same information. Keep in mind, I don't merely spin an article and resubmit it with a new set of keywords. They're all completely unique from each other, but when it comes down to the core, they all have the same, rehashed information: 5 tips to fix X, how to get rid of X, 3 tricks to getting rid of X, etc.

So, is this a bad thing?

There are a lot of different ways to go around the keyword and stay fresh.

One way to talk about the problem is to talk about all the other problems caused by that problem. Combine this with hammering on how it feels to have these problems, and you've got a winner.

But even a problem-solving article on a single problem, you can have several takes: the way NOT to do it, a list of things not to do, a list of things to do, a list of the benefits of solving the problem, a story about someone who did (or didn't) solve the problem, etc.

I banged my head against the wall for months, writing a small handful of certain types of articles, before I figured out a few other ways to do it.

I tend to analyze the keyword or phrase and have make two lists. The first one contains 'problems' relating to the keyphrase. The second will contain 'remedies' for the problems. You can mix this up with a third list of 'benefits' of the remedies.

It takes 10 minutes to do but after that you can quite easily create 10 unique articles for one keyword, even more if you work harder at the initial lists.

I've been an editor and ghostwriter for a couple of years now. For the last 6 months, I have written 60 articles on the same keyword. You just have to change the format of the article. If you can find a current event to bridge to, it's even better for getting positive results in search fields.

So if you totally run out of "How to" headlines or "7 tips", etc. Get creative. This will make you much better at your craft, too. I've written quizzes, FAQs, mistakes, comparisons, and much more. Writing on the same niche over and over is a part of being a technical writer (especially when you need to build capital). Why do you think PLRs are so popular? They want an experienced writer to turn the same thing over and over into creative articles.

I really don't mind reusing the same information over and over. It actually makes article writing really easy. What I'm wondering is if I shouldn't be doing it. Are there any negative repercussions to having all your articles contain the same tips over and over?

Aside from getting burnt out? No immediate ones that I can think of. I kind of wonder if at some point, this kind of thing will come back and bite us on the butt.

BUT Erin has a point you might want to consider--weaving current events (when possible) into your articles can be good for them. It can get you some extra traffic. Maybe not the most targeted traffic, but if you're not paying for it...anything is nice!

Not really. Some niches are very focused and the answer to the problem is going to the same for every article you write. One of the niches I dabble in is how to jump higher, and the basic ideas are pretty much the same for each article.

On the other hand, if you're in a broader niche like, say, relationship repair, then you're going to have a lot more variety in your articles.

In general, I wouldn't worry about it - the vast majority of your readers will only read one article by you.
