Hello I have just started list building and have been getting a 50% CTR - I give away a free guide via squeeze page - statistics show that only 50% of people that opt in click through to the free guide Is this good or bad ? Any Advice ? Many thanks for any useful tips |

What we have here is a failure to communicate. Nick, cud you explain to us the exact process your readers go through from the time they land on your site? I don't think we really understand what 50% CTR you are talking about. |

Here is the process: 1. Visitor comes to my landing page and opts in to receive a Free Guide 2. GetResponse autoresponder tells the visitor that an email has been sent to them with the free guide. 3. Visitor gets and email that includes a link to the Free Guide 4. Visitor clicks on that link to read/download the Free Guide Now, for every 100 people who opt in to get the free guide only 50 of those actually open the email and actually CLICK on the Free Guide link (hence the 50% CTR) Hope that makes more sense ![]() Really appreciate your tips and advice ..

Personally the page I lead people too immediately after they opt-in is a Thank You page that describes how to confirm the email I just sent them. When they click on the confirmation link in the email that redirects them to the download... It's more important at this stage to make sure they confirm their email. You can send reminders later about your report but get them to confirm so you can in fact communicate with them. Mike Hill

hi Nick, 50% CTR ? that's cool but you need to improve check to see how long people stay on your opt-in try place your e-book guide on a download page so that immediately after they confirm their subscription, they get the e-book. you can also try make minimal changes that should make maximum impact in your opt-in form, then afterwards observe your CTR again. try aim at 75% CTR. Wish you success in your IM bIZ |

I mean I want to make sure that the email they enter during opt-in is a real valid email that they own and use otherwise a person could just enter any odd email address and get access to the free guide and I would not have captured a "true" email address that I can market too .. So on the thank you page I tell them to go check their email for the download link .. this way people have to enter their REAL email address.
