Incredible New Discovery

by 7 comments
I live in Cincinnati and on Sunday, courtesy of Hurricane Ike, the winds came to visit us. 90% of the city was without power on Monday and today, Wednesday, about 50% remain without power.

Thankfully I have power and phone now. But no Internet.

My discovery: After getting past the first 24 hours of "NO INTERNET????" panic I found that I have accomplished more writing offline than I did when I was distracted online.

Productivity up, Internet down. Seems a bit backwards for a marketer

And I won't even see any responses to this post for 24 hours because I have to shut down now!

Good one. I tend to be productive too when offline, no distractions, no pop up mail notifications, no instant messenger messages, etc.... but I still have this weird feeling that when I have no internet and my laptops on, I feel so incomplete :p

      Hi Gail,

Hope you're OK - whatever preparations you might have forgotten to make, I bet you stashed away a few slabs of chocolate in case of emergency.

Funny how that works, but it's true. There is so much you can do online that it is ridiculously easy to get distracted. When I work online, I try to close all other programs, tabs, and browsers and just focus. Sometimes it's easier said than done.

Wow, what were the winds like by the time Ike got up there? Wasn't it a tropical depression at that point?
