Ok today i was working on building backlinks and i noticed how time consuming it is to get quality backlinks..

then i said maybe i should forget about backlinks since im gonna use ppc anyway.and that bought me to the real question...

What is the point of building backlinks to raise your site in the serps...if ppc will direct qualified visitors directly to your site anyway..

i mean lets say i have a new affiliate site no page rank only 1 day old and the site isn't even indexed and i run a very well researched ppc campaign. wouldnt i still make money even though i get no hits from from the serps??

please explain why im using so much of my time on building links?? thanks

My first real campaign I did not know about SEO and link building. I made a site, tossed it up, got a nickle keyword and ran an ad. I made sales in my first week.

I continued on, paying and thinking google would just push my site up automatically over time not realizing I needed to build some links.

A big promotion came, and I saved up for my adspend - and when it all happened I was still bidding on my nickle kw which turned into paying as much as $300 a day but making $1,000 in profits per day.

So what is the big deal? Do the math. If I was ranking on the first page somewhere, I could have been paying ZILCH and making 1,300 a day, and after 3 days I would have made not 3,000 but 3,900.

900 bucks is nothing to scoff at.

Long term this starts to add up when paying for advertising.

My advice - if you are dealing with something that will be a long term campaign take some time to SEO and save on silly adspend.

ok so basically yes ppc is going to drive targetted traffic to your site...for a cost.

but seo and backlink building will drive semi targetted traffic to your site for free.

so it seems like its best to get the site up in the serps just grab extra buyers..

(sorry for sounding retarded this is nothing new, i think i just got lazy and was trying to find away around building backlinks) lol thanks

        No problem.

Also, a HUGE thing to consider - when you are paying for clicks, you NEED to have an autoresponder.

The site I was promoting went down several times because of the surge, and I LOST MONEY because people clicked through to join and it was down. I could not communicate with them to let them know that the site was fixed, or keep their attention to come back.

I learned aweber in record time. LOL

If you are paying for traffic, get the most from it by offering something and grabbing some names.

Also, you have to consider when your payout is for a campaign. I had to wait a good 3 weeks to get paid so when my adspend ran out, my site dissapeared until i could pay again. I lost more waiting to get paid and not being able to sustain the iron while it was hot.

PPC isn't organic either, meaning that it doesn't help at ALL with your pagerank. SEO will build organic rank adn you'll climb higher & higher with the more you do.

Exactly. This was something I was unaware of as well initially.

      I am now all organic.

You are right, even if you don't build links to your site, it could make money with ppc.

However, getting a few links from authority sites will help your quality score in Google. At the end of the day, you'll end up paying less for clicks because Google will see your site more relevant than a new site that nobody links to.

    I hope you get it.

I focus more on PPC instead link building (as part of SEO).

With PPC, I can generally get my ads appear on search engine results page (SERP) faster than with SEO.

Besides, I can also target those keywords with higher search volume compared to SEO. It's easier to influence the position of a PPC ad compared that of SEO because one of the main factors affecting the postion of a PPC ad is the maximum CPC (cost per click) that you're willing to pay.

To be listed on the first page of SERP (search engine results page) for a competitive keyword, a lot of things have to be considered, planned, and execulted, both on-page optimization and off-page optimization (including link building).

I'm not saying that SEO is not good. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages, e.g. faster vs. slower, paid vs. free, easier to influence position vs. more difficult to influence position, less authority vs. more authority, etc.

In fact, I'd think PPC and SEO complement each other in the sense that PPC is a shorter term strategy while SEO is a longer term strategy.

The truth of the matter is, that with PPC you will get faster results, thats just the way she goes. However, if you wont focus on your link building through natural means, this will help you more in the long run.
Also, you wont have to pay,

      Cheers.

If you spend time on link building eventually you can get search engine traffic for free. You can then stop your PPC campaigns.

Over the time, link building can raise your ranking in search engines. Plus as T Shirt Painting mentioned that your page or site will receive link juice, increasing your PR of your site or page.
