Two-Step Order Taking Process that Collects Emails?

Howdy

I'd like to rig up an offer so I can capture the people who abandon at payment......

Basically Id like to be like "claim your copy now" and ask for their name and email, and then after that route them to a payment page, with their info populated.

Are there any shopping carts that do this sort of thing?

Also ---- when the person sends email, its never double opt-in. So dont they get hurt with SPAM complaints?

Most of the carts allow the user to register and create a free account on your site. Then the user can buy the product by clicking on 'checkout'.

For non-buyers it is adviced to use doble opt-in.

Most shopping carts make the user sign up to an account before processing the order through the payment service provider.
Even with paypal you can populate the required fields etc.
Plenty of scripts do that. Just try google.

we have used 3 different carts and all gave you the option of having a user register before getting to the checkout page.

Just have the auto responders redirect link lead to the checkout page and problem solved.

After payment ask for their e-mail again and have them moved off the follow up list to your buyers list.

mavericmoneymakers.com has a similar system.

Any cart can allow registering before buying. Like Oscommerce.

Well looking at the source code, they are using 2checkout as their processor.

I setup a self hosted autoresponder script that allows single opt...create the form, then send them to the next payment page...

rudimentary but it works
