How much does it cost to join affiliate networks such as cj.com? I'm talking signup fees here.

I'm having trouble getting a hold of any figures. Does anyone else know?

    • The last I knew CJ was over 5,000 to set up, but I think their fees are higher now. Part of that however is a deposit toward future affiliate commission payments, so it's like money in the bank.

Linkshare is around 10,000 I believe and they require an exclusive.

Shareasale is a great option and is a popular, but smaller network and costs $550 set up so is much more reasonable.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

thank you! When linkshare is 10,000 and shareasale is 550, why the dramatic difference? Is it worth the cost to join cj.com or linkshare, or should a person with the money pour it into shareasale?

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

I use ShareASale through Tradebit. I get lots of sales through them but I would never consider Linkshare or CJ unless your a Fortune 500.

    • Yes I consider CJ and Linkshare most appropriate for LARGE brands or large affiliate programs. They probably have a lot more of the large corporate affiliates too, but that type of affiliate probably isn't going to join a small no name affiliate program anyway.

Shareasale is a smaller network but lots of affiliates prefer it. So for most smaller programs I recommend going with SAS and saving the money.

  • CJ and LinkShare are not interested in small publishers. They use fees to weed them out. ShareAsale is.

One thing to consider as well if you want to keep your affiliates happy. Linkshare is the highest flagged network by security software followed by CJ. CJ has some serious tracking issues as well. Try your own links and see for yourself.

ShareASale has over 2,500 programs for affiliates and is easier for noobs to join. So unless you have a really solid plan and can absorb all those fees I'd take a hard Look at ShareASale. For the record I am not using them... but have considered so in the past.

CJ will get you a lot more exposure faster. I get emails from them all the time. Next to nothing from ShareAsale or LinkShare... both of whom I am very active with.

???Your active with Share a sale but you are not using them???

How would a merchant gain exposure when they only belong to shareasale?
