Don't depend on only one type of marketing.

I have seen many members depending on only article marketing which is a wrong approach.

You should try all types of marketing to minimize risks and more returns.

Good luck.

Find one method that you can make money with and scale it up. That's the key to this business. Newbies all make the mistake (me included) of jumping on the "latest and greatest" and never stick with one thing long enough to see a real profit. Just pick one method and work on that till your eyes bleed and you'll make a lot of money.

Never send traffic to a sales page (especially and affiliate page)

Always send traffic to a squeeze page.

then send your sales page to your traffic.

It is not hard to learn how to write 10,20 or even 30 articles a week

The most important lesson i learned in IM is that are no secret methods or super quick get rich schemes. Don`t get me wrong a lot of those things work but we do not stick long enough with it. The difference between a super affiliate and FAC (Frustrated Average Chump) is that the super aff works every day step by step and keeps his goal in mind until he reaches. he believes he can do thats why he is able to work HARD on his creation.

Default Re: What Is The Greatest Internet Marketing Lesson You've Ever Learnt?

Here are some general marketing (and life) lessons...

Mindset
  • Most of the problems are in your head
  • You stand in the way of success more than anyone or anything else
  • Your beliefs will govern everything you do in life
  • Stop caring about what others will think. Remember, they have their own limiting beliefs and will try to push them on you. You must ignore them.
  • If something isn't working, do something else!
  • If something IS working, keep doing it! You don't stop going back to the well when there is still water in it.
Take Action
  • The best time to get things started is yesterday. Today is the next best time. So get moving! Do whatever it is you have to do to get work done and get something going. Do something. Anything.

Why People Buy
  • People buy based on emotions and then justify it with logic
  • People buy what they want, not what they need
  • To avoid pain or gain pleasure. Note, most people are programmed to move away from pain moreso than toward pleasure/gain.
Why People Don't Buy
  • They don't want it - Not much you can do about it
  • They don't believe you - You need to build trust
  • They don't have the money - This is usually bs
Failure
  • It's part of the process.
  • Failure is feedback. So fail fast.
  • Learn from your failures and use the new information on the next go around.
Time Management
  • Everyone has 24 hours in a day. So don't use the "I don't have time" excuse. "I didn't make the time" is more honest.
  • There is no shortage of time, only a confusion of priorities.
  • Stop checking yor email 256 times a day
  • Don't start your day off by checking and replying to emails. If you do, you are starting your day off on other peoples schedules.
  • Set deadlines. And make them shorter dadlines rather than long ones. Thank parkinsons law for this.
  • Apply the 80/20 principle to everything in your life.
  • "Don't have the time", make it by turning off your TV. Especially if you watch the news. It's poison.
Pricing
  • You set your prices. Not your competitors or customers.
  • Live by price and you die by price
  • You need to increase your value. If people don't want to pay, it's because you're not delivering enough value for the money you're charging.

Miscellaneous
  • Always have a clear call to action in your marketing
  • Remember, it's NEVER about you. All people care about is what's in it for them. Remember this in your marketing.
  • If you're not growing you're dying
  • School is never out for the pro
  • It's what you learn after you know it all that counts
  • You need to give people a reason to buy from you instead of your competitors or not buying at all. This is where a USP comes helps.
In A Nutshell

There is no secret. Take action. Test. Make adjustments. Test again. Keep doing this. When it's all said and done, it' nothing more than taking action and testing. You will fail, and probably a lot. But if you stay focused, keep taking action, keep testing, and keep learning from every mistake, it's inevitable.....you will succeed.

This is just a tip of the iceberg. I could literally write a book on this stuff.

Agreed.

If Himalaya is the destination, it's silly to take advice from one who think had the idea how to go there, but hadn't.

Just follow instruction from people that have been from Himalaya.

Well, everyone else has already said "Take Action" and that is no doubt the number one because without it you will go nowhere, but you should have a map of some kind...

Here's a few more:

1.) Everything you need to know to become successful is free, but everything is not obvious.

2.) Don't waste your time on forums too much.

3.) Do something, even if it is a little thing, every day.

4.) You know more than you think you do, you have just forgotten.

5.) Other people wish they had what you have, never forget how blessed you are!

6.) Other than Death, there is no obstacle too big that you cannot find a way around it. (and for that "one" obstacle, I know a guy...)

1. Decide what you are going to do.
2. Make a plan to accomplish it. (Model others if necessary)
3. Stay Focused on the plan.
4. Make adjustments when necessary.
5. Don't quit.

I guess the foundation of all of this, is to make sure whatever you decide to do is ultimately going to take you where you want to go. Because after all your hard work, precise focus, overcoming failure & discouragement, more hard work, more focus, you want to be sure that it will ultimately lead to a desired outcome.

Just get started and don't try to do everything and certainly don't buy everybody's course. If you haven't taken any action on a previous one, you most likely won't take action on the next one.

When it comes to buying the classes you really have to be careful. I paid $2,000.00 for a product launch class and really got ripped off. All i really got was a mess of written material, phone calls to listen to and then set up in a group for phone calls and it's become a social group with 2 or 3 people instead of 8 that it is suppose to be. i don't even recieve e-mails from the guru that sold the class. For newbie's don't get suckered into these classes. They really don't want to mess with anyone unless they are going to make them look good.

Don't use adwords as when you start!!!
Start with yahoo or msn if you planing on marketing with ppc.
If you don't know how to use adwords, you're going to get out of money really fast!
I say that you start with free traffic and then when you start to earn some money, go to the pay methods

Concentrate your energies on becoming good at the difficult things. The difficult things are:

1. Traffic
2. Rankings
3. Links
4. Clicks

Work ceaselessly to achieve a high level of skill at the above 4 things. if you get good at them, then you can happily outsource the rest. Everything else will fall into place by itself. Don't get distracted into side issues, the above 4 things are what you need to get good at.

If you want to become an expert, talk to the experts.

Probably the biggest thing I have learned is that IM should be a get rich forever scheme not a get rich quick!!

Success doesn't happen overnight. There are too many and myself included at one time think you can buy a product implement it the next day and start making loads of cash the next.

You become older and wiser in this game.

Don't wait around for the mysteriously big "secrets" to be revealed and don't assume that everyone else knows so much more than you do before you take action.

I lost $500.00 as a very new beginner in google adwords and it scared me so much that I took a break and looked into a real estate venture. Somehow, I got back into IM and ran across 2 genuine marketers that truly want to help others and started up again. Everyone pretty much started out learning on their own so just dive in but get comfortable with your skills first.

I absolutely love this business and everyday there is something new for us all to learn.

Good luck to all the newbies!

A perfect wrap up, dv8!

Just an addition to that....if you can find a great mentor or coach that you really trust. That has helped me tremendously! I found mine from the internet and just took a chance because they had built trust with me for several months prior. It cost about $400.00 but has been worth every dollar!

I hope this helps!

That's an easy one: ignore the impulse and advice to just "do what you love." How many newbies has that lame advice sent down the path to failure?

One caveat: if what you love is making money, then by all means do what you love.

John

For me it wasn't taking action because I was already doing that. The beggest revelation for me was that it PAYS BIG TO TEST everything.

That building a rock solid foundation, both personally and financially, is critical to long-term success and fulfillment. If I would have taken the time to build my foundation ten years ago, when I first got started online, it wouldn't have taken me nearly 18 months to break $1,000 a month consistently. Today you could take away all my assets and I'd be back here today in less than a year.

I have learned many many things...

- I used to study alot, think and dwell on things without taking action. I learned to DO more. Now I do things at least 2 hours a day.

- Starting a website in a way too competitive niche. One of my first websites was about "games"(huge market & killer competition). I have learned to target micro niches/low competition.

- I have learned to sell/promote products that have a bigger price tag on it. I used to sell/promote digital products that cost only $1,- $10,-. I sold quite a few but it didn't make me rich.

- That there are 2 kinds of people on the internet: information seekers and buyers.

- Emphasis on fancy graphics without spending time on search engine optimzation = no visitors. (this was a hard lesson I learned)

- That desperate buyers(where did I hear that before?) niches can make the most money.

- That a niche/keyword has to have commercial value. That Adword advertisers have to be present or else it may be a sign that no one is willing to buy.(profit potential)

- that there have to be affiliate products present for a certain niche.

- target keywords with traffic.

- be unique and write quality content!

- do not spam. contribute useful comments.

The list is endless...I love internet marketing!
