Hi Warriors,
I am offering a hosting solution for local clients and seriously looking at Umbraco - The Friendly CMS for the CMS. Who has had experience using Umbraco and could you please share any feedback with me. My thanks in advance ![]() Simo |

1st time hearing about this CMS on the Warrior Forum. I don't think you'll get much feedback on this one.
Everyone here pretty much uses Wordpress, Joomla or Drupal...in that order. |

Haven't heard of this before. BlueSquares is right about the order.
![]() Anyways I don't think ASP.Net appeals to everyone. |

Here are a few criteria I'd use for evaulating what CMS to use:
Does it have a large developer base? You want something that has regular releases so that security vulnerabilities are patched, etc. You also want to be sure it's not just one guy's project so that if he gets bored of it you're up a creek. Does it have widespread usage? The more people that use it, the easier it will be for you to find answers to questions or get support or help. Witness this thread: no one knows about it, so no one can give you feedback. That's a bad thing. Does it have a vibrant 3rd party dev community? One of the best things about WP, Drupal, Joomla is that there are hundreds or thousands of people building add-ons, plug-ins, connectors, and themes. Without that, you're in a much worse place. I much prefer MS technologies for serious software projects, but for putting up small-medium content-focused sites I use Drupal pretty much 100% of the time. There's just so much more available for that platform. |

If your local clients are businesses they will be impressed with it. This is a professional grade open source (BSD I believe) CMS with an incredibly easy admin setup. Its intuitive for the users more so than even Wordpress and definitely more than Drupal or Joomla. Can you edit text this easily with Wordpress. Drupal or Joomla? If you know some programming and have worked with Visual Web developer you will find you can add on to it as well. As an up and coming (hopefully) .net developer I am really liking it. | |
