What's the best thing to do when you have a great product for the net?

I have what I think is a fantastic product, but I've done all the marketing myself and I'm not a professional.

Is that wise? Or should I really hire someone like Michael Fortin? Trouble is I can't afford that at present.

Hi John,

If you already have a good product that's a good start.

As for the marketing, I'll be honest, there's no overnight solution unless you have money to pay for outsourcing.

If you can't outsource your Internet marketing then you'll have to settle on the traditional way of doing it by yourself for the meantime.

Here's what you can do.

Do keyword research, check out the keywords that people use to locate products like yours. This is very important, otherwise you won't get traffic.

In everything you do. Use the keyword. (domain, salespage, etc.)

1. Find a place where you can upload your product. Also read on how to protect it.
2. Buy a domain name - .INFO at godaddy is just $1.18 very affordable .COM is $10+
3. Buy hosting or use a free web host. try Free Web Hosting, Free Templates, Free Tutorials and More - Zymic
4. Create a sales page, attach a paypal button, add a thank you page which links to your download
5. Create Web 2.0 Linkwheels, there's too much information here on link wheels already just search for them.
6. Write articles and link them back to your site. The articles should focus on how to tips related to your products and then make a call to action telling people that your product can solve their problem at half the time.

Do 5 & 6 continually, a fellow warrior in another thread said yesterday that after a month of doing promotions regularly he started seeing results (about $200 in sales per day).

Doing the promotion ourselves is the hardest part in Internet marketing. It requires us to have an organized mindset and ability to extend effort continually until a goal is met. But those who are able to do this are paid generously for their efforts.

Are you already getting sales?

Is it what your customers REALLY want?

Have you actually found the market/customers?

Before you put any big bucks into your project TEST IT FIRST.

It's the product in my signature.

I've made a fist of the copywriting myself and I think it's decent.

The product is a weight loss one with a very beneficial twist or two and that's certainly in demand.

Right now I am focusing on JV's and I have one going out tomorrow to a list of at least 10,000. It's a business list though and not a fitness one, through a contact I made. However something like this is sellable to any crowd I believe and I've nothing to lose.

What do you have to do for the WSO on this site? Maybe I could set up one of those as well.

Yup, it is well tested on myself and many people.

Getting sales in dribbles from the search engines and affiliates. 20 sales or so as we speak and no refunds. And in testing people were only happy.

It sure is what people want.

Have I found the market? No, that is what I need now, traffic and conversion.

Believe me, I won't put any money in until I know the website converts properly.

I think it's just membership in the War Room, 30 posts, and $20 fee. Well, that and you have to make an actual special offer... not much room to go down at $7. The price may go up signficantly and then I could offer a more substantial special offer. Of course I could just offer it for $1 on the WSO and build my list.

While it's possible to send out to a list of 10K a product for which the list is not targeted -- and actually be successful -- with the amount of your background at this point, and the questions you are asking, it seems rather unwise.

And thinking you have nothing to lose -- well, you have the opportunity to lose. NEVER say you have nothing to lose. The goal is to maximize ANY opportunity that you have.

FOR INSTANCE -- is there any form of lead capture on the page people in that 10,000 list of people will be sent to? If not - do NOT send it out. Wait until you get an email list for non-buyers to sign up to -- and provide them with an "ethical bribe" to encourage them to sign up to your list.

"Great Product" -- says who?

What's the proof?

You've tried it on some people and it works?

What's the definition of "works"?

Would it stand up to ftc scrutiny?

Weight loss and fitness industry -- thar be dragons there. It's probably one of THE most competitive markets out there, and there are people with lots of bucks out there that will be happy to eat your lunch, um, "for breakfast" -- and think nothing of it.

People who will be happy to rip off your product if it really is something valuable. Or bury it (e.g. the Tucker car...)

You aren't ready to send something to a 10K list, imo. And to do so would be to seriously burn an opportunity.

Tell them why it is essential to have it. Tell them why it is great..just tell your potential client about it and tell them to buy it now. No one else know your product well, just you. If you are the only one knows it, who will buy? TELL THEM! or your competitors will tell them

It's as good a product as most good products you see advertised, with the same level of testing for something 'new' and from an individual with no money for scientific testing.

I might add that the testing done by the FDA is a drug farse designed to create a monopoly and undercut anything which conflicts with that.

Our doctors can only rely on the testing and conventional system that is presented and such are hamstrung by the system, which is why there is a current health crisis and it will only continue to get worse until this is addressed.

That's why there is such a market for the alternative, new theories not conventionally accepted and individuals selling products based on testimonials.

The product has been tested in terms of theory and the theory so far working in almost every case, just like so many other good info products out there.

I can't afford scientific testing. I can however back up each statement of theory with scientific research and step by step the theory stacks up and so far it has worked with me, which is the basis of the selling point, and other people it has been tried with. It is what it is just like so many other information ebooks and has a full refund guarantee.

I only charge $7 which is what you see charged for books.

And I think I have some idea of what I am doing.

I have a plan, I was just asking what people think and I might learn something, which I have.

As for the comments on not doing something. Well, why do anything then? Everything has a risk and the successful just embrace life and take action, learn by mistakes and get better.

Ps. I will add an impact hover ad with a newsletter subscription and I think it would be a good idea to make a report so I can follow up with them daily for the first week after sign-up. Thanks for the reply and playing Devil's advocate.
